Thoughts on 2.4?Follow

Something went fubar with my patch download/install so I'm reading up on it while waiting for stuff to download and install. Very sad panda who needs his 2.4 fix.

The Shifting Perspectives druid blog at Wowinsider has some good info that's relevant to recent 2.4-centric discussions here. I'm hoping y'all log your impressions on 2.4 after playing for a bit. If not, whatever, I hope y'all are having fun in game. : )

Here's the biggies that caught my eye:

The "swipe doesn't break cc" change did NOT go live according to this guy. That true? That's cool, imho, as I think it'd take the skill out of multimob tanking and promote laziness in positioning.

Weightstones working in forms and the bleeding-ness of ghosts and mechanicals both went live. Cool and cool...I bought my weightstones before the patch in case the price goes up since their market just opened up.

We can buy the blue "Arena 0.5" gear for gold from faction vendors with honored rep? I'd missed that, and figured it'd still cost honor and tokens and stuff that I never have as a PvE'r. Wonder how much they'll cost? : ) Don't think there'll be any upgrades for me but it'd be great for fresh 70s, and if they're cheap enough I'll hook myself up with a little battleground set. Nice to have a little resilience for a change, and the movement speed boost will be nice.

Dragonhide Battlegear
* Dragonhide Helm (Lower City)
* Dragonhide Spaulders (Sha'tar)
* Dragonhide Robe (Thrallmar)
* Dragonhide Legguards (Cenarion Expedition)
* Dragonhide Gloves (Keepers of Time)

I also noticed that the drop rate of "depleted" stuff up on blade's edge plateau (badge anyone?) was increased. Interesting to see what that does for the farmability and cost of our favorite Badge of Tenacity.

If nothing else, I will be able to buy a nice little resto BG set to try out in BG's or maybe a few respecced arenas.

Looking at the fact that I need 895 Badges of Justice to buy all the feral gear that is un upgrade for me (when I already have all the feral loot from Heroics, Kara, Gruul's & Voidreaver), feral druids should be starting to move up the DPS charts a bit. Other classes may get a few pieces, but we seem to have done really well.

I look forward to being able do drop a 5pt mangled, trinketed Rip on Curator during evocate :)

Sweet tanking cloak dropping in the new 5-man instance.

"Cloak of Blade Turning"

387 Armor
31 Stamina
22 Resilience

Pretty amazing for a normal mode drop.

Also a nice mace on Heroic

"Cudgel of Consecration"

15 Stamina
20 Intellect
Blue Socket (+2 Spell Damage)
+18 Spell Hit Rating
+203 Spell Damage and Healing

Was thinking about getting a resto set from the vendor, but had to find out that I have more +heal on my S1 Wyrmhide than I would have on that stuff.

Thanks to Primal Nethers now being available at the AH, I can finally craft the missing belt from the Windhawk set without having to hope for a lucky roll. Also, other crafted epics should be easier and cheaper to get now.

I'll be a busy beaver the next couple of days I guess...

I haven't done a lot yesterday, pretty much just fled to the new area, saw my framerate drop below 4, and went back to Booty Bay to finish wiping the goblin race out of existance.

What I can say is that I absolutely love the change to Nurturing Instincts (I had taken it in my last respec in preparation for the patch). Since I'm fighting the Booty Bay bruisers and they are not exactly easy foes, I can easily see how much of a difference it makes. I love how you can stack up all you HoTs on yourself and give them an additional 20% effectiveness just by switching back to cat.

Guess that makes it work like Quick Recovery for Muti Rogues. I sure love how bandages tick for so much more there.

The best part of NI is since it's a percent increase rather then the initial +healing that they were planning, it effects ILotP as well in cat form.

one thing I thought I noticed last night was while in feral form my mana did not seem to regenerate at all if much at all.
At least that's how it seemed to me. In caster form I was getting it back like I should have been and maybe quicker with the spirit change.
Again I didn't do any real tests or have any numbers to show pre patch and after patch.
Just something that seemed kind of different.
I thought pre patch my mana regenned normally in feral form but now it definitely seems to regen slower than in caster form.
Can anyone confirm this or am I just high heh

A Tree's perpsective on 2.4...

Big jump in mp5? Yes please!

Regrowth for less? Yes please!

20g for killing 5 robots and a few magic addicts? Yes please!

Lifebloom nerf on final bloom? Huh? It bloomed? I'd never noticed.

2.4? Win

The set bonus on the Wyrmhide gear is kinda cool. It seems to proc quite often and I sure like to get a SF in when I would have otherwise just spammed another Wrath. I miss the speed bonus though, and I guess it will take a while to get used to it being gone again.

Where are new dailies and vendor that sells gear for gold?

I noticed the same mana thing. I would cast WotW and Thorns, switch in Cat, fight a couple mobs and when I went back to caster (around 2+ mins later) I wouldn't be back to fullmana yet. So I'm not sure ifit's because I'm at low spirit (I wear feral gear) or if they changed the mana regen rate for us while in Feral.

Suprised someone hasn't mentioned the serious boost lacerate got.

It did pre-boost, about ~150 damage with 5 up.

Yet fully raid-buffed, main-tanking kara last night I saw ticks of up to 450 (300-450) with full stack.

Pretty damn nice and if that extra damage does contribute to our tps then all the merrier.

Love to hear our boomkin and tree brothers and sisters getting regen buffs... but I'm almost certain that many of us ferals lost regen in this patch. That may mean I may need to use my Everlasting Underspore Frond more than once every 6 months...

i think lacerate, NI, and the regrowth mana decrease were the three that made me smile the most. i <3 regrowth, despite the fact that its a mana hog, and NI + lacerate just made dpsing as a feral a lot easier, not to mention a decent little pvp buff.

more regen from spr is always nice too.

I didn't notice any reduction in my mana regen. But then, I always have 3 points in Intensity no matter what spec I use.

One thing I did notice though..
Quote:
When a Druid in cat form casts Pounce it will now properly animate.

Unless by properly they meant not at all... :P

Before the patch it would animate only if I pounced in mid-air (would do a second little jump), but now it doesn't seem to ever animate at all. Anyone else notices the same thing?

Does nurturing insting affect the healing from improved leader of the pack? Both with regards to our agility and the +10-20% healing recieved? Would also like to know if our agility is counted as +heal on others who are healed by the improved leader of the pack aura

Improved Leader of the Pack is a fixed amount of healing based on the person's health, so no amount of +healing will help (kinda like Frenzied Regen). % based increases should work, though. %-based healing increases that I know of:

Nuturing Instincts (Feral Druid)
Quick Recovery (Sub Rogue)
Fel Armor (if a warlock were to get a melee crit LOL)

I haven't actually checked my feral regen since the patch, but I thought I read that Blizz did away with the class modifier to spirit regen. IE, a Warlock, Shaman, Paladin, Priest, Druid, and Hunter with the same int and spirit would all have the same resting mana regen. I thought that also included druids in feral forms, will have to check that out.
#20REDACTED, Posted: Mar 27 2008 at 5:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I honestly don't think it's fair. Did regrowth get its mana redcution at some cost? Or did bllizz just say "Hey! Let's buff regrowth!"

Regrowth is the same spell, it just costs less mana.

Not that it is relevant in this thread, but it does seem true that shammys got the crap end of the stick in this patch

This patch? Shamans have gotten shafted every patch since BC. The ONLY decent thing we have gotten is the water shield buff (50 mp/5).

The spirit buff is freaking huge. Pre patch I had around 150 mp5 unbuffed, I got in gruul's last night and fully raid buffed I had 330 mp5. Out of the 5 second rule I was rocking around 700ish.

I was tossing regrowths out like they were candy, along with my normal rotation of lifebloom stacks and rejuvs, and I never went below half mana.

My druid announced more regrowth field goals last night than I think I've had her cast in all of her raiding career.

Not happy about the reduction of the totem GCD, then? Or did that not go live?

On the mana regen, something is definitely up. I found myself drinking constantly in BGs yesterday, something that has never happened before. (I don't have natural shapeshifter but havent needed it before now.) Does anyone understand what is happening here? My spirit totals havent changed yet mana barely regenerates now, in or out of feral form.

Conversely, ran my 55 mage thru wpl and he barely had to drink....and he's fire!
