Okay, I'm in the process of gathering enough +healing to be worthy of a respec to Restokin. I'm currently sitting on some really crappy blue/green gear, netting me 400+ healing, 100+ damage and 20+ mp5. I'm still wearing a lot of Feral gear, like the rings and necklace, and trinkets (Smiley: banghead).

I know from experience that some of the talents will increase my healing, not to mention the mp5, but exactly how much is needed before I can take up the job of healing without having to blush when people point at my epic DPS rings?

I'm not talking about Karazhan or heroic Arcatraz here. Hell, I've never set foot in there with my Druid as it is, so I'm not going to go there with my craptastic Restokin. I thought I'd start out by healing through some of the "lowbie" instances, like Hellfire Citadel: Ramparts and some Coilfang places. You know, to get the hang of it. I've been healing on my Priest, but it's a bit different with the Druid, I guess.

Okay, I'll stop here before it turns into an essay. How much "raw" (unbuffed, untalented) +healing/+mp5 do I need before I can make the switch?

/Roar.. uh, /bork, I guess.

I went through exactly what you did with my feral > resto change over. If you are a tribal leatherworker you can make yourself the windhawk set which is very good gear for the chest/waist/wrist slots even if it is pain to gather the materials.

Also, if you haven't completed ALL of the level 70 ish quests there are some upgrades in there that I found when looking for some gear upgrades. After doing all of that I was sitting at about 800-900 + healing I think.

Then I did exactly as you plan to do. I progressively moved from lower level instances to the higher ones, then eventually to kara when I hit around +1000.

In the end that isn't much of an answer to your question, I would say jump into a ramparts and see if you sink or swim. I can't imagine it going that poorly. From your posts you appear to know what you are doing :p , I would say just jump in and get it goin. That is what I did and it has worked for me.

edit: Oh, and from your + healing I am guessing that you might not have http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=27791;source=live, which is pretty easy to obtain from SV.

I haven't planned to go resto but I've still collected random healing/spell damage gear when the rewards to quests/drops from instances were not upgrades for my feral.

At the moment my healing set is sitting at around +1000 healing, ~250mp5 (~100 in combat), ~6000hp and ~9000mana.

I don't even know if I will ever go over to resto since I quite enjoy tanking, but it shouldn't be too hard to collect a good healing set from instances and left over quests before you change over, and it's probably easier to do it that way than to struggle with +400 healing in the easier instances.

I guess doing it the latter way might ease the learning curve of the different play style but it's not like wow is in any way difficult.

Between 600 and 800 +healing for the regular level 70 instances. If you're looking at your stats while you're still feral spec, remember you won't have HotW and SotF, so you'll actually only have 80% of the intellect you do now. If your int is around 350-400, you'll get an extra 90-100 +healing and 35-40 mp/5.

Also, you can try getting the blue PvP gear from the rep vendors. It's not optimal for PvE healing, but it might be an upgrade over what you have now.
