Holy stats questionFollow

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the gear at lvl44. Pick up any healing gear you can find (even if it's cloth) if you intend to be an exclusive instance healer. For soloing I'd stick with plate/mail gear for the better armour but one or two pieces of leather/cloth is not going to hurt too badly.

At your level I would really be more interested in having a decent mana pool cos there's not that much healing gear available. Stamina is not a priority for you, take it if it comes with int but don't go looking for it. I lvl'd retr myself to 70 and was healing instance all the way up to lvl 60 in mostly retr gear.

Bottom line, having or not having a few pieces of healing isn't going to wipe your party. Will make healing easier for sure but it's not essential.

Single-stat gear (e.g., the Randomstat Green of Healing or of Intellect piece) is always less desirable than balanced stat items (e.g., of the Eagle, of the Bear, of the Gorilla). You want to aim for the balanced stat items, since they will enable you to both instance heal and solo in the same gear.

One worthwhile exception is the Truesilver Healing Ring which can be equipped at lvl 43. I would always swap that in and out for the lesser of my other rings whenever I'd heal for a group.

On a server with a normal economy, you should be able to get the right stats on decent lvl 40-55 plate pieces for a reasonable price. Don't be afraid to spend a little coin at the AH to get quality gear upgrades once in a while.
