Fear WhoresFollow

Basic Question, how many of you guys depend on fear as a class strength?

I very rarely fear, and I NEVER chain fear targets, even in pvp. Yet I usually find myself on top of a 1v1 (other than rogues dam them to 10 deaths in hell!)

I would also like to address the use of fear in Instances (5mans/heroics/norm) do you guys use it with succy for 2 cc's?

I use it alot, and I've had several groups get mad at me, but after the third or fourth time doing it, they ASK me to fear this mob, succy this one.

Anyone else use the fear toggle like this (cowreck)/any other curse?

Just a thread to start some discussion about Improving players and their use of fears.

My opinion is quite astringent because I play multiple classes, but I as a lock, truly dislike fear whores. The way to win isnt thru fear, but by being skilled in your class.

Gimping yourself because you don't use a class skill doesn't make you better than people who do. It's people like you who complain that someone cheats because, "You healed nub!" I'm a shaman. Its a class spell. I'll heal if I need to. I'll admit, using potions and such in duels is low but, then again, those aren't class skills.

In most cases, fear in instances is a big no-no unless you can devote your attention enough to yo-yo the mob with curses.

Let me see if I have this right. You won't use one of our most valuable spells because you know how to play?

<sarcasm>Yes, please discourage the use of a primary form of protection from damage. I hate it when you dot something up and then fear it away so it won't hit you, especially in pvp.</sarcasm>

I'm fear *****,proud of it,using fear very well, and causing much frustration to other classes.
You are not above us if you are not uing fear.

Yes ,I could prolly win witout fear by just dotting and draining, but not using fear is plainly STUPID.

You see, it's better this way. He keeps thinking that and as such dies painfully and leaves never to post again.

Admittedly Fear is unreliable against most targets, but the only class I DON'T try and Fear is one which has an immunity debuff on at that time.

Hello, my name is Smallsword. And I'm a fear *****.

Sure, the Fear ability isn't a skill you'll use all the time. There are moments when it won't be in your best interests. But when it adds to your survivability, while lowering the survivability of your opponant... It's pretty clear that it should be used.

It's like suggesting that I shouldn't use the Bestial Wrath ability on my BM hunter, It's a skill my class has and I'll use it.

Oh, and...

I'm not a fear *****, but I do use it when applicable. To completly ignore it would be stupid. For me I look at it as more of an oh **** button. Save it for if I need too, but with so many ways to break fear, and make it worthless, I do try to not use it if I can avoid it.

warlocks wear CLOTH they cant take much melee damage....so fear is a locks lifeline, dont diss it, if your a lock dont be shamed of this spell thats insane, now for instances, in some cases it is good to chain fear but not in most, it slows ur dps and is aggro in a mousetrap,

~agree to disagree

DoT > Fear > DoT > SB > Dot / Fear > SB > DoT

OR...

DoT > DoT > SB cast....dead.

I'm talking PvP of course. You can't win in PvP without Fear. Not consistently. To suggest you can is ridiculous in my opinion.

it does work. in some regulated occasions but it does.

you need a team with you and in that case if you are strategically placing DC it will win. more use sometimes to spam SoC then fear. limited occasions but it does work :)

I've yet to be in a BG where SoC works. They just don't stay close long enough.

Oh, and DC is instant Fear for everyone but Aff 'locks with iHoT as far as I'm concerned!! I use it a lot...

I'm alliance, and there are 2 very good BGs for SoC.

1) In AV, when defending by the bridge, SoC is *amazing*... in fact, in AV if you're a lock and not #1 damage (surpassed only by another lock)... you have failed in your mission.
2) In EoTS, run down to mage tower (Belf Tower for horde), and drop into the crack beside the tower. Then spam your 'tab-target' and start applying siphon life and SoC... you should be in the top few for damage if you do this. Makes your defense much easier, until that rogue discovers where you are at and you get ganked.

Fear is probably my favorite spell in the game. Granted, I'm a bit disturbed, but I think watching your enemy run around helplessly is an LOL good time!

I use fear whenever possible. Yes, I could 2 shot those lvl 68 elves in SMV before they get to me, but, if you let them fear around, they call other elves for you to dot'n'fear. Farming several elves while standing in one spot is too fun.

"Hi, I'm going to slowly kill you. Could you please use your final moments to go get some of your friends to share your fate? Thanks! You're a peach!"

Of course, sometimes you lose a corpse, but it doesnt seem to matter much when you look at the multiple elf corpses scattered across the stairs of Black Temple.

Lifetap, bandage... "Who's next?" BWAHAHAHAHA!
