First of all, thankyou everyone for any rateups that helped put me to sage. I appreciate the love. :)

Secondly.... It doesn't quite feel right to be a sage when dilbert who spent a lot of time putting together the holy guide isn't... I've learned enough from him about healing (wouldn't have had a clue how to gear my healadin for ret if it hadn't been for that guide) that I've often rated him up even when he was clearly posting anti-ret posts in debates w/ me... I know he's helped more people than I have. Are there really that many ungrateful people out there? I vote that if I anywhere near deserve being a sage some people should go rate dil up too... Just a thought.

No, but when someone has over 2,000 posts, their default post rating is going to be, at best, phenomenally resistant to change. That's just how the karma system works.

Oh, ok. I hadn't thought about that... I still think he deserves sage at least as much as I do. Probably more actually.

I do appreciate it of course. :)

A lot of the Ret fanboys must really be going out of their way to rate you up. FAQ probably has a lot to do with it too. I don't think I've ever done anything but rate you down since a lot of what you say used to be a lot of what tommyguns used to say, and a great deal of it is ridiculous.

Also, people rate up and down on the manner of post, aside from the content of it. Good content loaded with unnecessary insults make some reluctant to rate it at all.

Gratz Tool, I've not managed to make it to Sage yet either >.< Probably don't deserve it, but my favorite color is green, so I want it, lol.

For me I haven't been rating until recently cause there used to be a little drop-down type thing in the left for rating people, but when that was changed, I thought I just lost rating privileges. Only recently did I discover the arrows on the right hand side ... lol.

You know... if I wasn't an extraordinarilly brilliant person who knew better... I'd almost be willing to think you were making some kind of off-hand reference to me...

Good thing I'm an extraordinarilly brilliant person who knows better, huh?

I was sage once, deep into it.

Then I posted a ASCII art pic of a naked chick and got hit with the admin stick. Good times, good times.

Don't worry, ToJ. Gaudion and bodhi will get right on that. They'll have you back to scholar in no time.

I stopped rating people down 10,000 posts ago. Takes some seriously bad info, some bad trolling or wanting to put a gold spammer below default to get me to dust off my rate down button.

Okay, just Gaudion then.

You know, we should really get Dil to sage as well. Even with him being retired and all.

Seriously. I had something like 4k posts between the time my posts defaulted at "Good"(Blue name, Score: Good) and when I hit sage.

I don't rate people down out of spite. I'm liberal with the red arrow, but not vindictive, and I'm usually not even that unless I see a post that I think contains wildly bad information has been rated up to good or excellent. It's not like I'm going to go rate down all of his old posts and every new post he makes from now on. Even if I did I doubt it would change much. When someone writes a FAQ it's practically auto-sage anyways, and the Ret fanboys tend to be a pretty cohesive bunch.

I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to be that cynical about it, but the guy just doesn't have enough worthwhile input to warrent the sage title and I don't think many, if any of the regular scholars here have made it a point to rate him up for many posts other than the FAQ. Maybe if nothing else, this'll help people understand that you can't take people's advice at face value based solely on the color of their names.

The ironic thing is, when he first came here even I rated up a lot of his posts. He was pretty reasonable then. In fact, I think I made a post dedicated entirely to praising him for being that reasonable. Somewhere along the lines he evolved into a second tommyguns and decided that Ret was cruise-control for the top of the DPS meter. Which are the posts I will continue to rate down.

Lol... Well, I'm glad someone rated my last post in this thread up to good. Someone(s) took it upon themselves to go seek me out in the Shaman board and proceeded to rate down every single one of my posts in the most recent thread.

Good times, good times.

I would have less fun too. If I cared one bit about the color of my name I would amend my ways drastically. Right now I'm too abrasive, argue with too many people, and don't suck up to enough people to ever hope to see green. I'd rather reserve the option to call someone an idiot if I think they're an idiot; I'll take the rate-down, I really don't mind.

However, it is slightly annoying when some boob and his posse make it a point to locate every single one of my posts they can, most of which are actually insult-free or completley inconsequential, and rate me down just because someone got a little butt-hurt from my voiced personal opinion of them on a message board which means absolutely nothing whatsoever in the broad scheme of things.

lol, are you trying to refer to me? maybe you didn't read my last post in the most recent ret thread... i do beleive it was me answering a RET pally and mentioning that his flaming of bodh and other vets was unwarranted and earned him the first (and so far only) rate down i've ever done. as many times as bodh has flamed me i've still never seen him post anything so outrageous that i thought it deserved a ratedown. trust me you've never been as much of a bad @$$ as you think to earn even a thought of rating you down. i have done many rate ups including probably some of your posts, but the ONLY post to earn a ratedown from me was a "ret is l33t, you all suck for disagree'ing" post....

oh, and if i'm not as reasonable anymore it has more to do with the vehemence of the anti-ret community her which has made it impossible not to commit fully one way or another. trying post helpful pro-choice on here apparently made me a full blown ret fanatic in many peoples minds. you're not one that cause it and i'm sorry if you feel offended by it. my inention in most posts is to help those who want to pay ret for whatever reason. certain individals turn every helpful thread into yet another ret debate leaving me very little choice - i can abandon the ret i am giving advice to or make my arguements.

i don't think anyone here wants to see this become a civil, helpful forum more than i do. i may post less about holy and prot than ret but thats more because those threads get more positive advice in general.

in the end i think its amusing that you guys have turned a thread where i was admitting i deserve sage LESS than dilbert who is HOLY and posts LAWL RET posts as often as anyone else into "why does that mean nasty ToJ keep rating us down".... way to turn yet another attemt at a positive thread into mud flinging. just keep in mind who started this downslide in the future...

Well you know I didn't hit sage too long ago. Honestly the best thing you can do is just write posts trying to be as helpful as you can be. I don't believe anyone hear is writing posts trying to be an a$$hole. Guadion may rate you down and argue with you because he truly believes that you don't know what you are talking about, and it's his right to feel that way. I don't believe he does it out of spite, or just to be a jerk, he feels the Paladin community deserves to hear the truth, at least in his opinion, and he will fight to the death for that. And it's the same thing for you Tool. This is why I stopped getting offended by people like Guadion or Bodh or anyone else really who agreed or disagreed with me, they are really just trying to help, and sometimes can get carried away with it, and maybe someone's feelings get hurt, but that's their personalities and I have to accept it. Because I would rather them be here and brash than not here, because they have good input and advice that can benefit many young Paladins.

i agree that i'd rather they be here. and i honestly completey understand that they disagree. my biggest issue i was bringing up in my post was them slaming me and then implying that i am some evil rabble rouser who does nothing but argue and rate them down. i will never begrudge them the right to disagree or rate me down. i only ask for a little more civil atmosphere and not to make up lies about me to justify flaming me.
#24 Mar 26 2008 at 2:48 PM Rating: Excellent
I dunno, I didn't get the implication, and I think Guadion is the type of guy who would just flat out accuse you rather than imply that you did it. He said a guy or posse did it, it's happened to me too. I've been rated down on several posts unrelated to anything before, and it pissed me off.

On another note... personally, I'm rarely one to use the kharma system, I rarely rate someone up or down, and in all honesty I probably rate down more than I rate up simply because it's easy to be a moron or a jerk, but it's hard to write something profound and concise.

You get me, Jack... you really get me.

/tear

In any case, yes. I'm not accusing you directly, 2.0. But I think it was someone who read this thread, because that Shaman thread has been up for days, maybe a full week, and as soon as I made a couple posts in this thread, someone went through and rated down every single post in that thread, even the arbitrary ones that were barely relevant. If knew it was you I would already be down your throat. Not because I give a rat's *** about the karma, but because it's such an... honestly, I don't even have enough negative adjectives for it. It's just bad.

This, also, would be the case. I argue for the simple reason that I want people to get the best direction possible when they read this or any other board I happen to post on. I don't believe you're one of the better people to be in a position of giving advice concerning most aspects of Paladins or the game in general. I'd hate for someone brand-new to the game with nothing to go on to visit this board, see your name in green, and then take every word you say at literal face value. It's nothing personal, even the insults; I'm sure you've often called your friends idiots or dullards (well, maybe not dullards... I can't expect everyone to be as verbose as I am) to their faces jokingly. You sir, are not my friend, but every time I call you an idiot it doesn't mean I'm staring at my screen with deep scowl on my face, frothing at the mouth in anger either.

I just happen to be a bitter, hollow husk of a human being that long ago abandoned any hope of ever finding love in this lifetime with massive superiority complex and a brutally straightforward, abrasive manner of speech.

Yeah Gaud, it probably was. Some people are vindictive and will do stuff like that because they didn't agree with one or more of your posts. I don't believe Tool would do that, you may not agree with him, but he's a good lad.

Anyways, you kids go play nice outside now while your mother and I have some of our special grown-up time.
