Why don't you use Cheeky's spreadsheet?

Oh I do, I was just having fun. Cheeky's spreadsheet doesn't explicitly show the ratio we've been discussing after all. Did you even read this thread?

Well just to add, I finally got the felstalker set, only to find out after I put it on that the set requirement for +20 hit rating also included being a 350LW.

I thought you all would have warned me. ><

Honestly didn't think of that, sorry. Still, the set is a good starting point for your Karazhan career. Flesh it out with Beast Lord and some questrewards, and you are ready to start out in Karazhan. You'll upgrade as you progress through bosses.

Well I think 2k RAP isnt really that hard needed, myself i went in with about 1600 RAP and did really well, top of de the damage chart pretty much the whole raid, till a lock kicked me off at prince ;(

Read the whole thread please...
Not just the first post and answer that.
2k rap is for Mm hunters, and its a goal to aim for, not a cold hard stat you need before kara.
(in fact, with the 'optimal' pre-raid gear as seen in the sticky you'd end up at ~2050 Ap selfbuffed)

edit: in the optimal gear, there are no epics included nesides S1 pieces (wich are more or less equal to lvl 70ish blues for PvE)

That's a total of 955 not counting the RAP boost you get from BoK, which scales with agility.

just a nitpick, but burgers (and mudfish) give +20 agi, not AP - it's the ravager dog that gives +40 AP

Just broke 1400 AP unbuffed, but my hit rating sucks.

A question about that... if I have surefooted, how much hit rating do I actually need?

I was told by my guild that I need 1600 AP to get to kara, so it shouldn't be so hard. I'd link my armory profile, but I'm at school and the net here hates anything from WoW's official website.

Thanks for the help all. The sticky has been wonderful as well!

Also wanted to ask another question.

I've recently gemmed all my red slots with +16AP, but I keep reading more and more that I should go +agil instead.

My question is, how would this look for a new raider? It would take me much longer to hit my guild's required 1600AP. Its the only reason I'm stacking +AP right now.... to get my foot in the door. If I gemmed agility, I might do more damage, but it would take me quite a bit longer to get in.

I feel like I'm cheating my guild out. ><

More Ap = higher crits
The Higher your crit%, the more you benefit from AP.
The Higher your Ap, the more you benefit from crit.

In raids Hunter's Mark and BoMight give you 660 Ap, EW easely adds another ~225.
So thats 885 AP.
Add relixir of major agility, 20 agi food, MotW, leader o/t pack and a scroll of agility V and you get a total of:
974 AP and 8.135% crit, not counting Kings.
Or in other words, you get a lot more attack power from buffs then you get crit.
Agility raises your crit well while not neglecting your attack power.
For purely soloing you would end up with a high critrate in comparison to your attack power.
In raids however, this evens it out quite nicely giving you optimal dps.

Hi again.

This thread is going to be longer than the hunter FAQ right aways, and I'm only one person. ><

I must be an moran.

Anyways, I thought I'd post up my armory link now that I actually can.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Gnomeregan&n=Moissi

As you can see, I need more hit rating. As you can also see, my spec sucks. Don't worry, it isn't staying that way for long. My excuse? Just don't re-spec when you're drunk and doing arenas. I seriously thought my spec was the best thing since sliced bread until I woke up that same day.

First, I will be re-gemming my PvP helm and shoulders right aways, and gemming my boots. I already have the gems in my bags, just wasn't sure if I should keep the boots.

I also have the quest for Natasha's choker which I need to finish up, and will be working towards the Delicate green poncho as well. After that, I guess I will have to run Sethekk for the Ravenclaw band, Terok's Quill, and hopefully the leggings of Desolation(for the +35 hit rating set bonus)

After getting all this, will I be close to done? Any other suggestions are very welcome, and more than appreciated.

I'm having trouble atm... I try to do heroics but with the exception of the low-level ones, people tell me to get S1 gear and call me a noob. You can armory me, I'm Kaylei on Altar of Storms, and I mean my gear isn't BAD. I've run Kara and held my own, I have 1550AP with Trueshot as MM, without AotH and 1700 with AotH, and about about 18.5% crit. But I mean I'd do fine in like Heroic Underbog and Mana Tombs wouldn't I? Or would I not be much use to the group?

I can't figure out if these people are right or if they're just stuck-up and think that because they're in S3 we should all be in S3.

Let me know what you guys think if you can look me up on Armory.

Thanks! <3

I think I hate you. ><

3 BoE epics? Damn you people with golds, and double damn the epic flying mount for making me save mine!

Other than that, Icey on your weapon? No scope on your Xbow?

I mean, your stats are only marginally better than mine, and I would NEVER even think about doing heroics yet.

IDK. I don't think S1 is the answer, but maybe they mean you should get the shoulders?

/shrug.

The chestpiece and hands I got for 320g total. I got the bow today, so no I have no scope yet, and I put icy on the axe because I don't plan on having it very long. Why spend money for 35agi when I want to replace it as soon as possible? Icy just for looks, because it was that or nothing.

And if you say S1 isn't the answer... what is? If I can't do heroics without raiding gear, and can't get to raiding without heroic gear... I mean wtf?

Looking back I didn't mean for that to sound so rude, lol. I'm just frustrated trying to get geared, and I despise BGs so the past 4-5 days have been brutal.

Read the sticky. You really don't need heroic gear to go to Kara, and S1 gear is pretty crappy for PvE.

There are a few good PvE sets out there(desolation, beast-lord) and others that might help you. Also, look to get your hit rating up(its as low as mine), and maybe get gems that are more PvE oriented?

actually, the S1 helm is the best not epic (no i dont count S1 as epics) helm ingame ;)
And depending on spec, the S1 chest is great too.

Nobody cares anymore, but I had to report that I picked up Natasha's choker and the Delicate Green Poncho. : )

Now I just have to run sethekk halls!

Also stockpiling golds for enchants and the last few gems I need to put in. I need 8% hit for Kara, right?(I'm asking because I don't think I'll be able to make the hit rating requirement without surefooted, so I'll have to work with percentages I guess.)

Edit: Also a pretty standard noob question, but what does it take to make it into heroics? Is it higher, or lower requirements than Kara?

Thanks to all!

9% +hit, or 142 hitrating.
If you happen to be SV with surefooted its 95 + hit and as dreanei you need 1% hit less too.

Its also not nessecaryto make it all the way there and if you pay attention to what gear you are using you'll get pretty close.

I ran Heroic Blood Furnace last night and we flew through it, zero whipes, and I lead the group in dmg without dying once.

So it can be done if you know how to play your class well.

Well, I guess it doesn't take that long to get to Kara!

I got in today, as my guild had a shorter run than they thought they would and needed an extra DPS for chess. I had no idea what I was doing, was unprepared(only stam food on me and only had mana pots on me, no elixirs/flasks), and don't have vent yet. Still, my excitement to get in during the past few weeks made them think of me. With only 45min to an hour left in the run, I got in. We cleared a few trash pulls, got a few drops(leather healing and plate drops), did chess, and my very first two badges.

All in all, it was so much fun! I was very excited to get in, and my guild seemed very happy to have me. Unfortunately, we have absolutely 0 BM hunters in our guild(everyone goes MM), so I'm really going to have to prove myself worthy of being there. They said they'd give me a trial run next week, and see what kind of DPS I can put out on the bosses.

So, any last minute advice before I'm out the door running? My hit rating sucks, my AP sucks, and I don't have any enchants. I know all of this, so my next week will look something like...

1) Get enchants on gear I will be keeping.
2) Run Sethekk Halls for Quill, Greaves of desolation, and maybe a ring(I think).
2) Buy leg armor(cobrahide), but wait until I pick up greaves of desolation before putting it on.
4) Get better gems for my helm/shoulders PvP epics.

By the by, a guildie of mine picked up the Truestrike Ring I'm wearing right now for 40G. He saw it, I urged him to buy it right aways, and picked it up from him. Ahhhh, My first lvl 70 epic non-welfare-gear piece. I'm a happy hunter. : )

Move one point from frenzy to mortal shots.

Get the disco ax, or better yet Sonic Spear and get savagery on it.

Terrokar Tablet of Precision trinket is very nice for getting your hit rating up.

Spicy Hot Talbuk is the hit rating food, I believe, make sure to stock up.

Cobrahide pants, AP gloves and bracers, 12 agi to cloak, agi to boots, and 6 stats to chest.

With those changes you should be in pretty good shape for Kara.
