Hey there,

My brother and I (both GMs) have been writing a pretty great WoW Blog for our guild these past couple months, and it's been a blast. My main is a 70 mage, and every couple of weeks I've been writing a post specifically geared towards our guild's mages with mage advice - things like how to number crunch using Theorycraft-O-Matic, how to sheep appropriately, and Dr. Boom spec-testing.

What I would love are some other mage-specific ideas I could blog about. What do you think? What are some other issues that mainly pertain to mages?

Thanks! Also, you should definitly check out the blog. It's been going really well so far, thousands of views a day, and makes for some nice, patch day, down time reading :)

All the important mage stuff is pretty basic. I'm thinking proper addons (dotimer is a big help to me, can't think of any mage-specific addons atm), macros (focus target stuff), specs, spell rotations (8xFireball 1xScorch) and consumable usage.

You should be able to do all of this by the time you get to your first 25-man, so it's hardly blog-worthy in my opinion.

There's always (OMGTHEYNERFEDMYCLASS) patch notes and (OMGWARLOCKSAREOP) pvp to whine about, but both those topics have already been blogged to death.

This post is perhaps a bit negative, but I just wanted to make it clear that writing about the topics I mentioned is probably a waste of time. There's bound to be some bigger and better things to write about then these topics.

Good luck on finding them, I'd enjoy another good read.

As a side note, the 2.4 patch isn't actually live yet on EU realms, it will be tomorrow though. Now all I need is 41 more badges :(.

Thanks for the reply. I agree that a lot of what you mentioned is pretty basic stuff, and that's why I haven't covered a lot of it. Or, what I have covered (sheeping and macros, for example), has more to do with maximizing your UI setup for ease of sheeping, proper macros, and things like that. While basic, some people may not have that info yet, or at least not have thought about it subjectively. I.e., no, you don't just hit the sheep button when the RL tells you to.

I also only do a minimal amount of PvP. What types of mage-related PvP issues are there that you think are worth talking about? sure, rogues blow, as do locks, but maybe something with a little more nuance than that :P Anyways, thanks for the help!
