Looking at maxdps.com they rate the relentless earthstorm meta a lot higher on dps, but i heard that the thundering skyfire was better for fury wars. Just wondering what you know?

i believe thundering skyfire got knocked down a peg (or two or three) when haste was nerfed. also, there may or may not be a hidden cooldown, or i might be talking about a different meta gem.

You're talking about the right gem. There's a hidden 45s CD on it, so you're really looking at about a 1 PPM meta. Throw in the haste nerf and the RED is definitely better than the TSD.
Even before the haste nerf, Thundering Skyfire was pretty bleh. After, it's not even close; RED is really pretty amazing.
