Need help with healing addons/macrosFollow

Hello. This is my first post. I need some help with healing addons. I've looked through the stickies but haven't seen much mention of useful addons for instance/raid healing. I was hoping to find something in Dlbrt's guide to Pre-Kara Holy Paladins since I have been using that a lot to gear up.

Background: I'm currently a 70 Healadin and I'm just using the default interface along with FuBar and Parrot (and Auctioneer). I have installed Clique and Grid but I haven't played with them because honestly I'm not sure how they work and I'm afraid I'll get people killed if I play too much with a new addon. I hear Healbot is not as good as those two but I'm willing to try it.

My goal is to be as effective and keyboard-agile a healer as possible in Kara and Heroics. That's all I'm really doing at the moment. I am running into an issue where I can't get heals and blessings of protection off fast enough during spike damage (especially to clothies if the tank loses aggro). At times I find the default interface a little awkward when combined with point and click.

Also any suggestions for great macros would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Healbot + PallyPower works for me.

Clique and Grid is another one too that is good.

Try them both and see how you like each.

With Healbot , I can party heal easily plus cleanse and debuff using modifiers.

I did healbot for almost all my 5 man, heroic and t4 raiding, perfectly fine add on. Switched over to Grid + Clique about midway through t5. I would have to say that Grid + Clique is a little more work to set up but in the end I prefer it because it displays more info and is pretty compact.

Pally power is a must have for any pally, not just Holy.

I have Cleanse/Bop assigned to mouse cliques (alt left click, alt right click), so I can break cast and get a cleanse/bop off fast as fast can be. As for dealing with that type of situation that is more on your own personal heal technique (as in don't wait till tank is 50% to drop HL) than it is mods.

Omen threat meter, Deadly Boss mods, Recount, those are the main ones I use.

Great macro I used was having my Lower City Prayerbook attached to my Flash of Light. :D

Not only that, but look around for the tanking macro that lets you taunt a target's target if you decide to go with Healbot (Which I would suggest doing). Having that on your bar will allow you to just tab through targets during the fight while you use the addon with the other hand, and if you see someone pull aggro you can grab it off them real quick before the clothy gets trashed. Just a personal thing of mine. I always got praised for keeping an eye on the other party members while keeping people up.

Hunters especially loved me for being able to keep everyone topped off on HP and being able to stun a trapped target if it gets away.

But for Addons, Healbot and PallyPower are great to have.

I am also in the Healbot, pally power camp.

I don't use much in the way of macros although a target of target macro is useful in some cases. I do bind BoP, Cleanse, Blessing of Freedom onto my heal bot though. There are some fights where these are essential.

Healbot also leaves me free to target other things... such as an MC'd party memeber so I can stun them before there do too much damage or until the MC can be dispelled.

Oh and yeah... no one should be raiding without a boss mod. Bigwigs or DBM.

I also use X Perl UI cos it shows me a bit more info than the standard UI and I can move things about to customise it. Not essential but useful depending on what you want to see.

Honestly... Is it so hard to select a party member and then hit your heal button? I heal with only Xperl and i've done that all the way into ssc/tk. Admittedly i use a 6 button mouse, which means i have room for FoL, Holy light and holy shock in there. I map lower ranks of holy light, my trinkets and various pop abilities to my number keys, some important ones i map to keys closer to wasd. Works perfectly fine, it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to heal using this and in no way is my healing inferior to anyone using healing addons. i just find them unnecessary. I think xperl or any other ui is a must though, the defaults are just too skinny for me to be able to see and react quickly.

To each his own i guess, but for the sake of answering the question, i use xperl, pallypower and omen (not really necessary, but i like to be able to warn people who stray too close to the tank without oticing.)

I don't use any healing addons as I do it very, very rarely. I don't think it's "hard" to do. I think it's more cumbersome then it would be though. Also, pulling out every group in your raid from the social raid menu takes up a lot of space where some of these addons will take up 3/4 of that space, plus give more info.

I'll agree with you on "to each his own" though. Most of the addons I use are for information purposes only, not to make my job easier. Personal preference.

With healbot it takes up less space than the raid frames, and you get your heals off just a split second faster due to not needing to select the character first. Plus you can see if you're within range of someone using it without clicking and then realizing that you're not running up, and getting behind on having your targets up.
