I was just bored and made a talent leveling build for my rogue. He will be going combat swords. I was wondering if this is a viable leveling combat swords build. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f Any input and such would be appreciated. Thanks.

First off, the link is a blank build. Need to click "link to this build" first and then use that URL.

Also, what are you looking to use it for PVP, PVE, etc?

It didn't occur to me levelling... PVE... ugh... that's Mondays for you.

To the OP: Here's a thread that I had started a few months ago when i was still working on my build. Perhaps it'll help you.

if its or Raiding, take one point off of combat and put it into Relentless Strikes in Assasination and your build will be perfect.

and never take 2 points in lightning reflexes over improved sprint

Don't use the word 'viable'. Use 'ideal'.

Viable is originally a biology term to mean anything that will live. It has come to mean 'will it achieve the minimum goal'. People raid with all sorts of weird builds, so yes, it's 'viable'.

It may however not be ideal. As people have said, ruthlesness and relentless strikes are your friends. For how high they are in a tree they are nasty.

Many thanks for the grammar correction, and also for the tip.

Viable in the context of WoW means "able to survive" meaning that it actually does what the class/spec is supposed to do.

For rogues, that's damage in PvE.

Was I the only one who got riposte while leveling?
#16 Mar 24 2008 at 5:05 PM Rating: Decent
I think so. I used it when I made my first rogue and I didn't find it to be too useful. I asked my friends about it and they said that it was not worth putting the points in parry and then riposte when you could just put them somewhere better.

I used riposte leveling as combat/daggers. I really enjoy it and think it is an awesome leveling talent Smiley: cool.

You leveled daggers? Wow, I couldn't imagine leveling daggers. I would go insane.

Yes, I used daggers.

When leveling it is non competitive, so you can get away with a lesser build, unlike arena.

In arena however, you need the best you can get, and in its current form, that would be Shadowstep for my teams.

I have since migrated to ShS/Maces in S3 from Muti/daggers(doh!) in S2.

Does 'what it supposed to do' is still not the same thing as doing it the best ;)

People do damage with mismanaged specs or weird equipment. These builds are 'viable', but they're not optimal. Just use optimal, it's a perfect word for what you intend to mean.

I got it mainly because I was using one of the swords from zf which gave parry rating. Rogues can't do much damage when they're disarmed :D

I love Riposte. Even against enemies who can't be disarmed, it's basically a 10-energy sinister strike. And Deflection is nice.

Obviously you'd leave it out of a raid build, so I'm dropping it the instant I hit 70.

Yeah, for leveling I always got reposte while combat. Its a nice skill to have. Its good for pvp too, if you happen to end up doing that while combat. NO WEAPON FOR JOO!

Would you agree that it would be more efficent to put those points somewhere else that is better?
