Just hit 70...Follow

#1 Mar 24 2008 at 5:47 AM Rating: Decent
Hey, been lurking around the boards for a while now, decided to start posting. But on my rogue i just hit 70 a few days ago and just am wondering what to do PVE wise as far as gear goes.

I usually PVP when i hit 70 but i am completely burnt out so I wanted to give PVE a try. I assume heroic gear would come before kara, i just am uncertain of what hit rating, ap, crit would be needed before trying heroics.

Any advice you can give me is appreciated.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Dalaran&n=Zenar is my armory.

From what I gathered, the heroics "requirement" is pretty much the same for kara. Bigdaddyjug made a nice thread about pre-kara gear here. That should help you out a bit.

From looking at your armory, you'll definitely want to bring up your hit rating. That's one thing you should focus on. You really should replace your OH for a faster weapon, especially if you're combat swords. The faster your OH, the more hits you can do with it.

Other than that I'll allow the other, more experienced rogues give you more advice... as I'm still learning myself. But hopefully that'll give you some things to help you out. =)

Another thing on a faster OH. It gives more procs for enchants and poisons. Grats on 70 as well.

Definately get your hit rating. Your DPS will suffer a great deal if you are wiffing every other swing.

My current stat goals for Kara/Heroics is:

1500 AP
150 + hit
25% crit
6-7K hp

I believe enchants have Procs Per Minute, independant of weapon speed...

grats for making to 70, now the real game begins. maybe try running normal 5-mans for blue 70 lvl gear, maybe a few pieces of assasination set (D3). Latro's shifting sword would be nice OH. Sorry if you already have something better, I can't open armory for some reason...

Just to clarify: Enchantments are normalized so that they proc about the same per minute at any weapon speed. A fast off-hand will help with Combat Potency and Poisons.

And for the Kara/Heroic magic numbers I tend to prefer +hit over AP for the above reasons. Not to say that my hit is all that great right now.. but.... well...

*edit: This is assuming a Combat spec of course. Certain other specs require a different speed set-up.

Right, but the offhand speed does affect the amount of times that a poison will proc. Just not for an enchantment because it is normalized. Correct?

Just trying to get this straight.

[wowitem=2892]Poisons[/wowitem] have a chance per hit proc. Faster weapons will apply it quicker.
