Well, after finally hitting 70, I go to the Hall of champions and check out which pieces of PVP I should grind for to make my life easier. After looking at it, I was crushed. It seems as if the PVP gear is all about the stamina and nothing about the damage.

So I go to look up gear for mages, and it would look like tailoring is mostly the way to go. Well, I got mining and jewelcrafting. Both maxed, but should I drop my mining to pick up tailoring? I have a rogue that has alchemy/herb, but I hardly use the herb portion anymore as he mostly just is used as my transmute a day action on him anymore. So, he could pick up mining, but mining is such a ******* to level.

Let me know your guys thoughts, drop mining for tailoring? Or are there other decent pieces of gear to get that aren't too incredibly difficult to obtain?

can help you out with what could be upgrades before you get into raiding. The tailored sets are amazing, no doubt about it. If you can do the mining grind with the rogue to pick up tailoring and level that then you will be good for a while on the mage.

Thanks for the advice.

I was disappointed.

PVP gear for a mage wasn't like the PVP gear for my rogue. For my rogue, it seemed like nearly every piece was a huge upgrade. For the mage, not so much.

Guess I'll have to toil through mining again, but that's okay.

Standard questions apply here--what do you want to do with your mage, now that you're 70? I'm going to assume no PvP, since you don't like stamina (which is admittedly kinda boring until you hit 10k hp, then you get a little e-peen flex feeling (; ). So let's say you want to farm efficiently, do heroics, maybe dance with the Prince one day.

Fully-equipped in PvP gear, you can push 900 +dmg easily. Gemmed and enchanted for +hit, and with a couple gear substitutions, you can get over 100 +hit fairly easily (though capped would be difficult). Anobix will tell you that, past Kara, much of the PvP kit becomes less than optimal, and I'm sure he's right (I've personally never seen past Moroes). But gearing for post-Kara is, in large part, what Kara is for.

Point is, don't discount PvP gear--especially the Vindicator's stuff and the S1/S2 staff. The gear uses alot of itemization on stam and resilience, but let's face it, with iLevels that high, they've got alot of points to dish out.

Regarding professions specifically...
- Tailoring is awesome for mages.
- Mining is a pain to level, no question, but you need to factor in how quickly your rogue would get from node to node on an epic land mount and how few mobs you'd agro along the way. Didn't have that luxury the first time through.
- I don't know enough about JC to fully contemplate your situation: now that it's 375, how much do you really need mining? Does it make any sense to just drop mining w/o picking it up on the rogue?

edit: just checked your armory. Seems to me your gear is pretty good for someone who just hit 70. It's been a while now, but +490dmg at 69.99 is pretty respectable. Funny thing is (and this is one of the main problems w/ PvP gear for raiding), you have less than half my mage's health, but you're only about 1000 mana below me. lol Not much int on PvP epics. Me
