2.4 Badge pantsFollow

I've been looking at the 2.4 badge rewards, and there's 2 pairs of pants.

The crit pants: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34937#comments

And the hit pants: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34918#comments

Now, both pants are obvious upgrades to the spellstrike pants, so I do intend on getting either, I can't decide between the two though.

I'm currently at 158 hit, but that's with the spellstrike set. Should I get the crit pants and try to get extra hit from other items? Or should I go with the hit pants and ignore the fact that I could have had another 2% crit chance?

Besides the mentioned items, I'm wearing 3/3 spellfire, along with a few pvp/badge epics, and the ZA boots. My nearest upgrades will be coming from ZA, and I intend on blowing my dkp on the TK trash shoulders (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30024), which have 18 hit.

What do you guys think, which pants should I buy?

Based on your gear setup, go for the +hit ones. And pop a Great Dawnstone in the yellow socket and a Glowing Nightseye in the other. That should put you just under the hit cap. Then you're a bit more free to play around with gear.

If you get the shoulders from TK, switch out your glove enchant to a +20 spell damage one.

According to theory crafting on this website (can't remeber the name of it, elite something) they play around with numbers and how to maximize your dps the most. They are really into the game and they came with this conclusion, that point for point:

Spell hit (until capped)>than spell haste>than spell damage >spell crit > spell penetration. So if two items are similur that is probably the best pattern to follow to maximize your damage.

A while ago I had my gems and my enchants all messed up, and then I followed this pattern. And I noticed a great increase in my damage done.

Yeah, I was mainly aiming to find out if I should replace other parts of my equipment to make up for the hit, or simply get the pants. I'm not entirely aware of how difficult or easy some items are to get, seeing as we're only just beginning in SSC. If I'm able to get a lot of good hit items it might be better to get the crit pants, if not, the hit pants.

I'll get the hit ones I think, thanks :).

*sigh, but Poldy, there are no cloth shoulders listed there :( I saw them for sure on another website, but Wowhead does not list them. I sorted all the items by type and there are no cloth shoulders there.
I really hope Wowhead is wrong, i really liked them, they were my first choice for spending badges once available the vendor.
The website i saw them on i think was http://www.worldofraids.com/ because the colours are what I remember from a few weeks ago when i was checking out the rewards, but I cannot find the badge rewards listing there. (I had the direct link but i lost it)
:(

There are craftable cloth shoulders, IIRC. But they required Sunmotes.

Edit: Nvm, the craftable was gloves. I'll keep looking into it, though. Have to stay awake for 4 more hours somehow.

I've found shoulders that drop off of Vexallus in heroic Magister's Terrace.

Those look familiar?

Either way, I'm still looking.

Ok so I was just browsing again the drops from MT, and there are cloth shoulders droping in heroic mode. I must have been thinking of these probably, but I was so sure I had seen them on the badge reward list, and remembered calculating my badges for them. >_>
Tricks of the mind, I will remember to not be so sure of myself next time I argue with someone over something i remember. >.<

Edit: Writing without checking if new posts have been made, go me..
not.

No worries, gave me something to do for a few minutes while I finished my snack. But now I'm off to play Warcraft II.

What do you guys think about the new trinket from heroic MT? Is it better than Icon of the Silver Crescent for a fire mage with ignite? I suppose it depends on the duration of the fight and the internal cooldown of the trinket?

You know, I'm honestly not sure about it. I haven't seen any theorycraft on it for mages, but I know it's supposed to be ridiculously good for Shadowpriests.

From what I have read, it did not proc after ignite/fireball ticks, so for us it is useless.

After doing some theorycrafting/reading through some of it, I don't really get any worthwhile upgrades from any of the badge loot. The dagger is nice, but seeing how we are working on archimonde/moving through BT I will just save out and get one of those instead of 'wasting' 150 badges on it and lose a bit of stats.
