You should be prepared to fulfill any role your class is capable of doing. You're a hybrid. It's just life. You don't have to go out of your way to pick up off-spec pieces, but if one falls in your lap, grab onto it. Our itemization is not as good in the DPS department as other classes, so after Kara or so, you don't typically see druids topping DPS meters, either feral or balance.
Right now, druid utility is huge in the healing department. If you don't want to ever be asked to heal, don't roll a class with healing spells. If you don't want to do it, say "No thanks" and move on with your life. If they're looking for your dps, they'll ask for your dps. If they want you to respec and they pay you for it, that's up to you, but if they want you to respec to help them, they're just mental and probably nine and a half, used to getting whatever they want. Tell them that you're going to tell their parents and they'll stop.
EDIT: Why the hell won't my sig update? /boggle
Yes, and all Priests need to be able to sufficiently DPS, all Hunters should be able to chain trap, all Warriors should be able to tank and DPS, all Shaman should be able to heal and DPS. . . . . do you see what I'm getting at here?
You aren't a Druid. You are a Feral Druid, or a Resto Druid, or a Dreamstate / Balance Druid. To be EXPECTED to fill any role at a whim is ridiculous.
