My level 68 rogue was lucky enough to have the Master's Treads drop.

These are a substantial upgrade from the pair of boots I am currently wearing. However I am also a leatherworker...and will be able to make the Fel Leather Boots in one level.

I'm torn about which to wear. The Master's Treads provide a nice AP boost. But the crit and sockets on the Fel Leather's are tempting. I'm a casual player so I doubt that I will get any of the raid/herioc drops for a while.

Any insight which ya'll can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Fel Leather are better for PvE.

Master's treads are nice to have just for the extra stealth level if you ever need it (good thing to have for situational use in your bags... not something to have in your optimal DPS gear set). For the small amount of gold that you would lose by not selling them (an amount that you could make in an hour of farming)... I would keep them for the hell of it just to have them. Fel leather are better for DPS... no question about that... they are higher level... have no budget spent on stamina... and have no budget spent on a stat that does nothing for DPS (the extra stealth level).

I replaced my boots of the shadow flame from neff with the master's treads at 68 (I got them for a trivial price off the AH when I hit 68 just after BC was released). They paid for themselves by allowing me to sneak around whatever that auch instance where the end boss dropped the rogue shoulders. 3 manning stealthing that with 2 rogues and a feral druid was much better than finding groups to actually do it...

Thanks folks.

Looks like I'll be crafting up a pair of Fel Leather boots tonight. :-)

I have the Fel Leather set and it is pretty sick. From what I understand the boots that drop of Moroes in Kara are only a minor upgrade, and may not even be considered so in some cases.

They offer the same sockets, a very small bit less crit, and a few less hit rating... however, they have more attack power. You gain 31ap, lose 0.04% crit, and lose 9 hit rating... Edgewalkers are a pretty clear upgrade from a DPS point of view... not to mention that aside from that they give you an extra 280 health (28 stam)... this assumes that you pick up the gem color bonus... which is easy to do b/c it's red/yellow. Edgewalkers will last you quite a while once you get them... one of the better pieces from kara... (while FL are one of the better blues around).

As a leatherworker, and especially one that is not raiding, you will probably be tempted to craft yourself some epics. Or maybe get badges to buy epics. And for that you will need to go to heroics or Karazhan. Which nowadays is not such a big deal anymore.
If you do that, you will notice that it's really nice to have more stamina. I got rid of fel leather set pretty fast, because it has completely no "survival value".

I had mobs in heroics hitting me for 9k, Aran once blasted me for 10.5k damage. Netherspite spat at me 3 times in a row for like 4.5k each. Surviving such things makes you feel good :)

So, what I was about? Ah, item points spent on stamina are not wasted. I was using 2stamian = 1AEP for my gear comparison.
