DO A BARREL ROLL!

Seriously, Scryers.

everyone says scryers simply for the +spell crit right? But what about the crafting recipes for tailors specifically. Seems like as a tailor you get more patterns going aldor while sacrificing your +spell crit. In the end though I guess it could be argued that will the increase in +fire resist really be worth the loss in +spell crit?

Aldor you get a mediocre staff and a set of easily replaced robes. Scryer you get a great Epic ring and one of the best Spell Hit trinkets around.

Aldor you get slightly worse BoP inscriptions and a couple of mid-level, BoE Fire Resistance pieces (which you can get your resident Priest Tailor to craft for you). Scryer you get the best endgame Warlock inscription.

Aldor you get Healing Spellthread. Scryer you get Damage Spellthread. Admittedly, both of these are BoE.

endgame, absolute endgame.... aldor is better due to having the better shoulder enchant. but for improving your gear, general play and generally not wanting to die so much 'cos you didn't wait for the elevator.. (lolz, happened so many times before i got the flying mount) then scryers is better. very good trinket (scryers bloodgem is very hard to replace before hitting the hit cap of 202). and the ring is very good too.

Aldor have the superior shoulder enchants and once you're past T4 that's all that matters.
#9 Mar 18 2008 at 6:16 AM Rating: Decent
Phew, I'm glad I went Aldor. Or am I? Yes. No. Yes.

Well, it really depends on what you plan on doing and how long you plan on doing it. For Kara and Gruul's Lair (and to a lesser extent, Mags) the Scryer's Blood Gem is one of the top trinkets you can get your hands on. After Hex Shrunken Head, Magtheridon's Eye, Icon of the Silver Crescent, etc. it begins to wane quickly in usefulness. The ring, also, is easily replaced.

2.4 is bringing, with it, a new basis for rep. The new Sunwell Offensive necklaces give different bonuses based upon your faction and Aldor provides pure spell power while Scryer provides crit strike rating.

If you're going past Karazhan level gear, go Aldor.

Spriest and Pally friend of mine hit up the PTR. That's it, though.

they managed to get exalted with the new faction? o.0 didn't know anyone had managed that yet...

I know the Spriest said it took him like 12 days just to get a Timble's Focusing Trinket or whatever it is. Whether or not they got exalted and tested it themselves or heard about it from someone else I do not know, though.

Roll both and go through their pockets for loose change afterwards.

Seriously, You can roll both. Get Aldor reputation first, then switch to Scryer. You will end up with both sets of rewards.

Look at the rewards. If you lose the faction rating you can't use the items/enchants anymore.

Imo you should roll Banatu. My rewards are teh best, and exalted with me is easy.

that trinket is a drop, it's not rep based. tbh i doubt anyone actually has the neck piece, yet to hear anything about it.

you can go 'both' once you've got what you want from 1, you spend a **** load of gold/time into getting X item to hand in till you're neutral again, and then start working up the other side :) i know plenty of tailors who done that so they had both sides recipes... even know 1 guy who then swapped back 'cos the first side he choose has better shoulder enchants o.0 lol.

oh, i'm pretty certain you can still use the gear, in most cases of "choose a side"(other than blacksmithing), simply means that certain setbonuses won't work, but the gear will work fine otherwise. (look at S3 shoulder. 2k rating requirement but you get to 2k, buy them and then drop to 1 if you want and still wear them. same with FSW/Spellfire. you can wear it even if you're not 'spec'd' for it... just means the setbonuses don't work.)

Normally I just browse the warlock forums since I have a 70 lock, but my druid is my main. I did want to point out the difference between, say Spellstrike Hood, and Frozen Shadoweave Boots. The hood, anyone can equip, you just need tailoring for the set bonus. The boots, you need Shadoweave tailoring to even equip them.

Alla doesn't have the crafting requirements in the mouseover tooltip, so I had to link that other site.

I wasn't making that much fun of him - you can choose both

Switching to Scryers
To change your faction from Aldor to Scryers to access their crafting recipes (and undo all reputation progress you have made), find Arcanist Adyria, a Scryer in Lower City. She offers you a repeatable quest [62] Voren'thal's Visions, that requires you to find eight Dampscale Basilisk Eyes. Once you are Neutral with the Scryers you can no longer receive this quest. The quest gives you +250 Scryer rep and -275 Aldor rep (in bonus, the quest also gives you +125 rep with The Sha'tar).

Switching to Aldor
To change your faction from Scryers to Aldor to access their crafting recipes (and undo all reputation progress you have made), find Sha'nir, an Aldor in Lower City. She offers a quest that, upon completion, allows a repeatable turn-in quest. The quest require eight Dreadfang Venom Sacs. Once you are neutral with the Aldors, you may no longer receive this quest.
