Ding! My first ever lvl 70 character :D Im so happy hehe.

Anyways, i was feral up until now, and i wish to spec Balance. I just have some questions regarding this and end game ;O Before i ask the questions, please keep in mind PvP is my first priority.

1) Ive almost filled out the balance tree, i was thinking of either getting feral charge or putting the rest into resto,. If i went resto would furor be better than imp MOTW for PvP? Ive basically filled out the balance tree except for improved nature's grasp, imp faerie fire and brambles. So id be running a 48/0/13 spec. Im basically asking if you think this is a good idea or a waste of talent points hehe.

(On a side note, any balance druids with a near filled out balance tree + Feral charge spec, could i ask for your input as to how effective it is in PvP situations, or do you wish you had spent those points in resto).

2) So im just beginning to BG for gear, although i was wondering which gear is the set for Balance druids. It seems to me that there is a set for feral, resto and balance so would i be right in saying the (wyrmhide??) set is for me as balance?

3)Out of curiosity, at end game are balance druids the least played spec? I ask because i rarely see them ^^

4) Against hunters, is bear form still the most effective form for a balance druid? I mean ofc the added hp and def is good, but dont you lose a lot of dps by sticking to this form? I mean as feral, with mangle dps was fine, but without and relying on maul seems kinda... weak. I throw out this question because im basically starting from scratch when coming to fighting other job classes, ive never tried this before and am trying to get familiar with the playstyle.

Thats all for now i guess. Its late and i cant remember what else i wanted to ask. Thanks for any response :)

Yeah, it's wyrmhide. If you're not sure, just check the set when you go to buy one.

We're one of them, yeah. Heh. Their loss.

Uh, not really. Would be the same as someone who's feral shifting to caster form to dps another class. I'm all for using all we got, but there's no real advantage to shifting to bear form in that situation (though you're going for charge, so i guess you could charge->bash->shift to moonkin and dps.)

1st of all gratz on 70, the 1st char is always a milestone.

1) i would say that feral charge is better than imp MOTW (why do u want to slightly buff one of the worst buffs?)

2) you will want the gladiators wild hide set, tht has the spell dmg on it, ergo balance.

3) iv seen a few balance druids around at 70, not a lot though but htey are more common that the retarding. I would pref to have a Moonkin in my raid that a retardin

4) tbh i can't comment about at 70, as none of my 70's have problems with hunters.

but at the mo my monkin is level 42 and hunters are not a problem, as most them are BM*lol*
natures grasp keeps pet at bay then the hunter hits me like a wet blanket with his puney arrows while i toy with him.

i cant give any moonkin 70 experience yet, but hope this helps

Well they are rare, but I can tell you from ranged experience, my Hunter learned to run from them when I seen then 1 on 1 in BG's. I got my epic crossbow, and other BG gear (so I've done enough of them). I got over 6k kills in BGs. I've learned tricks for just about every class on how to get the kill on a class....except for Moonkins. I honestly don't think I won a match Vs one.

The spells just hit sooo hard. I remember 1 moonkin Moonfire spammed me (like 3 times) and I was dead. I got maybe 3 shots off on him (which did nothing to his HP). Me being stubborn, I got rez'd, went right back for some payback, same thing, 3 moonfire and a dead hunter.

That's what I'm going to do when I hit 70 just because I remember what they did to me. Old saying: If you can't beat them, join them. Smiley: smile

Hey, thanks for the replies so far.

I was wondering if i should spend all my points into the Wild-set, or buy 2 slots from a different set for the added resi? I know a few warlocks who have been doing this, and i hear everyone stacks resilience for PvP.

I decided to put my remaining points into improved mark of the wild, then nature's focus (i think, the one that reduces interruption on healing, its one down from imp MOTW on the tree!) and finally 3 points into intensity :)

Oh, and one more thing, does anybody have a good reference site for Balance PvP? Ive read the 'guide' on WoW wiki, (How to kil a ... Druid) quite a few times, and it seems to be more feral based than anything. Ive tried google but all i come up with is spoof guides/posts which say MOONFIRE MOONFIRE MOONFIRE!

Thanks again ^^

If you're going for a PvP build, can I ask why you didn't go for Improved Nature's Grasp? I would rather have a higher proc rate for Nature's Grasp rather than something like Dreamstate.

Also, you can look through some of the builds listed on wowwiki: http://www.wowwiki.com/Druid_builds

I tried out a variation of the "PvP Balance Full Hybrid" build, except I switched Feral Instinct for Thick Hide. I only tried it out in Battlegrounds and not Arena though. It was fun being able to Feral Charge other casters, I made a macro that let me do it from Moonkin form so it might have been a surprise for some. 5/5 Furor is defintely a must though, so you have an instant Feral Charge as soon as you shift into Bear.

Survivability was pretty good, though I hardly had any of the PvP gear when I first started, so it's hard to say if it was the build change or the better gear I had on when I respecced.

I've since switched back to a raiding build though, since my friends and I started running Karazhan regularly.

I was just wondering what enchants you would get for your moonkin for PvP. I seem to be getting more spell dmg, but losing out on spell crit in the process as i grab the S1 PvP gear. So enchant-wise, should i focus on spell crit to make up for the loss, or + spell damage all the way? (BTW is spell hit any use? My impression is that its fairly useless due to everyone stacking resilience). What would be a good stats target to aim for, (as a new boomkin) so im well equipped to start arena?

You just have to accept the fact that you're severely gimped until you get your hands on S3+ gear to actually make up for the loss of +crit you're dealing with in the beginning.

There just isn't much "Boom" anymore since patch 2.3 and pretty much everybody sitting on at least 350 resilience. Focus on Spell Damage, Intellect, and mp/5 (in just about that order) Your damage drops to zero once you're OOM.

Don't worry about Spell Hit for PvP. Balance of Power (Talent)has you covered there. You'll get some Spell Hit Rating on your head enchant and the Gladiator's Staff. You would need 38 Spell Hit rating to get to the hit cap against another balance druid or Subtlety rogue. 21 from staff and 14 from the head enchant leaves you with only +3 that you'd have to cover with a gem or might even have on another item you're using.

Spell Penetration is good to have in PvP as it will cut through your target's resistance. Getting it up to 42 would take care of Imp. MoTW on Nelfs and Tauren for your Wrath casts or Gnomes for Star- and Moonfire.
