Hunter Needs HelpFollow

#1 Mar 16 2008 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
Hello,

Ive been playing WoW for 2 months now and Im happy playing my Hunter class. Before I play games like these, I usually do research on the class I play. Im now almost lvl 50 and I just switched out of BM for MM. I love all the crits and damage I get from it.

Now here's my question:
Ive read most of the BM vs MM threads out there and from what Ive read, BM outdamages MM endgame.
Can anyone explain to me how this is? The only way I see that is by adding the damage from your pet, especially when Beastial Wrath is used. But, doesnt the Crits from your shots and such outweigh that damage also when youre a MM hunter?

Im not looking to be ranted and nagged upon, I just need some help b/c I stress out what Build I want when I hit engame so I can be the best I can be.

Thank you for helping me. =)

After you put your 41 points into BM, you put the other 20 into MM, so you get both Lethal and Mortal shots.

Lol I never thought the Lethal and Mortal Shots made that much of a difference.

Thank You for answering.

Actually, one of the biggest DPS increasing talents in the BM tree is Serpent's Swiftness. That in addition to Frenzy and Unleashed Fury makes your pet do almost double the DPS it would without them. Also, Focused Fire and Ferocious Inspiration increase your DPS by 5%. Not to mention the utility FI brings to a group.

This build is pretty cookie cutter, and will do a great job for your DPS. Worthy of speccing for endgame.

Remember: It's not always about big hits/crits. Take a look at Aimed Shot; It gets huge hits and crits, yet it's only of your most useless shots for damage. Only real reason to use it is because of the healing debuff, and even that's situational (for PvE, for PvP it isn't much situational...).

So you do factor in Pet Damage a lot.
Well I re-specced back to BM to try it out again, but I went in and put my 20 points for MM then went into BM. Ughh cost me 20 gold lol.

Before Re-spec, this was gonna be my spec for lvl 70 MM:
MM Spec

But this is going to be my spec till 70 for BM:
My BM Spec

Ive seen Animal Handler in a lot of specs, whats so great about it?

+hit for pet, and its the only way a pet can get that.

Is it really that important?

Endgame hit is the most important stat in the game. Doesn't matter if your pet hits for 1k damage a swing if he misses it's still 0.

Hit now seems to be the most important stat in the game. For pretty much all dps classes (possible exception being warrior) the first thing you go for is capping your hit. It has been number crunched to death that people with higher hit (up to the cap) will out damage people with lower hit but higher other stats. A pet is no exception to this. For me, my pet is anywhere between 20-25% of my total damage done, so when he misses, it can really hurt my damage done. Especially with the addition of buff food for your pet, a pet with an increased chance to hit can make all the difference in the world. If you don't want to believe it, feel free to try comparing your dps when you (or your pet) has hit, and when you (or it) doesn't. research is always a good thing.

It was mentioned before, but I think Serpent's Swiftness if probably the biggest factor.

While leveling you have a bit more freedom to choose, though, I think.

Nope, same for them.

+hit for endgame is the stat that increases your DPS the most (at least for melee:ers) until capped. Now, pets can't cap hit, but 4% is a huge deal when 8.6 - 9% is the cap.
