How do you go about getting hit rating on your tanking gear? I am feeling more comfortable with my mitigation recently but it's becoming really annoying when I miss my initial mangle, and get parried once or twice after that on lacerates... I just can't see where feral druids manage to get hit rating, while managing to keep up defense/etc as well...

I've only just run my first section of Kara (main tanked Attumen, Moroes, Maiden and Romeo/Juliet my first run with a pug group O_O fun), and have only done ~40 badges worth of heroics, but looking at "tanking" lists around the place, I really can't see a whole lot of hit rating on the gear we use to tank.. do people gem for it?

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kil%27jaeden&n=Delekii is my armory, if anyone has any suggestions as to where I could easily pick up some hit rating, it would be appreciated.

I Logged out in dps gear.

But anyway, Badge belt has 18 hit on it. and is arguably best Tanking belt in the game, as well as one of the best belt for dpsing.
35 badge neck with 21hit and 22 expertise or so and 48sta.
CE head enchant
S3 chest
S3 helm
I think the BOP LW boots pattern that drops in SSC also has 12hit.

If you are doing heroics regularly, off tank in raids. You will want(need) hit and expertise. They really make a huge difference in those areas. While one trick pony works better when maintanking bosses, but it doesnt work out so well when you multi tank in heroics and try to keep decent tpm when mobs die fast.

Anyways in my tanking set I have 74 hit.

I am glad someone brought this up. I think in tanking gear I sit around +60 hit (disregarding talents). I haven't been too worried on missing attacks, but have been concerned around the taunt resistance.

+hit on druid tanking gear is really poorly done by blizzard.

If you're LW, Boots of Natural Grace have hit rating on them, too. Really, though, I wouldn't worry about stacking hit rating. For one thing, expertise reduces mob avoidance more than hit rating. For another, we get so much benefit from Agi that it's even better: dodge (more avoidance), crits (more Rage and threat), and armor (okay, so the armor benefit is negligible). If good tanking gear happens to have hit/expertise rating on it, great. But you shouldn't gem/enchant for it.

That's all well and good, but pugging heroics and karas mean people attack as soon as you engage the mob, and it seems most people just install omen as lipservice to what it's meant to be used for...

I'm more than willing to let idiots that pyroblast a mob before I have even landed a mangle die, but when they do it over and over it eats a lot of time up :P

Anyway, doesn't matter too much, I just hoped there was some easily obtainable hit rating that I was missing.

I normally don't find the lack of +hit on my tanking gear an issue. One of the most critical times it can affect you is the Bear boss in ZA where you have to taunt him to switch tanks when he changes forms. I just make sure that I have my finger hovering over the AoE taunt in case I get a resist. It has happened once in 5-6 downings (and several failed attempts).

There is always the possibility of having 2 taunt resists during the fight, but the other option is to gem for hit and have crappier stats overall and maybe dieing due to AR, Sta not being up to the job at hand.
