Unusual bug with shot cycle macroFollow

Hey

I've been using the standard BM shot rotation macro, but I've noticed something happen fairly often that's causing some trouble.

Sometimes, when a target I have been killing dies, another nearby mob is automatically selected, and my guy starts to shoot at it also (or melee if they are close). This is obviously a bit of an inconvenience, with CC'ed mobs in particular.

I was wondering if anyone else was aware of this happening. I figure it's connected to the macro and not anything else.

My current macro is

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:Hide()
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, !Auto Shot
/cast [exists,target=pettarget] Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear(); UIErrorsFrame:Show()

although I've used similar ones that basically do the same thing, and the problem happens with those too.

Thanks.

if you hit the macro when nothing is targeted (and nothing is targeted when the mob dies) then it will go to the nearest target and use the macro. It's the same exact thing if you were sitting there spamming the ability without the use of macros. You just have to be careful and stop hitting the macro when the mob dies. This is a wow function, not an error of your macro.

Ah, thanks for your help.

Suppose there's no quick fix for that then. I sure would prefer it if it just stopped completely when a target died, seems like that would make more sense.

Ah well!

I'm no macro expert, but you can probably find the information on wowwiki on how to do this, but there should be some [target:notarget] macro options which would allow the macro to work something how you want it. But it may exceed the limit...something like:
Quote:
[target:notarget]
end macro
[target:harm]
(fill in the rest of the shot rotation macro)

or u can turn off the auto attack, auto shoot feature which is why thats happening
:)
Also you should change the cast to cast random on your kill command line, or you will hang up your other shots.

That only changes the melee/ranged difficulty, not the problem of attacking other players.

Actually, what it does is prevents you from auto attacking a target after you switch targets, until u actually attack.

And on the next part what dont you understand, i thought it was pretty straight forward? Using /cast instead of /castrandom will clip auto shots.

I dont know how /castrandom will help, but /cast does not clip auto-shots. I used the macro myself for a while, and it worked fine. Maybe you had something wrong with it, but that's not an issue. /castrandom would just ***** with the shot rotation, not help it. If you know what the macro is, you'd see that there's a shot rotation involved, which prevents clipping of auto-shots. The reason I was like "uh...what?" is because the post made no sense to me. /cast isn't an issue, and /castrandom WOULD have been an issue.

As to the stop attack thing, you're thinking of the Stop Auto Attack option, not the Auto Attack/Auto Shot option. The AA/AS option switches between melee and ranged based on your tarket's proximity, and the SAA option will stop your auto attack (or in this case auto shot) when you switch targets. However, neither fixes the problem that the shot rotation macro will target a new mob for you. The problem isn't switching targets and AS still going, it's hitting the macro one last time and it automatically picking a target for you. Thus, the option doesn't matter.

Well i guess someone should go over to Tkasomething and tell them that their sticky on shot macros is wrong...

quoted form their sticky
Quote:
/castrandom [target=pettarget, exists] Kill Command

This is where Kill Command checks if your pet has a target and then casts Kill Command when possible. Let's break down this line a little more too.

/castrandom

We use /castrandom because /cast causes Kill Command to clip Auto Shots.

As for the options, i was talking about both of them, because i couldnt remember which did what, but i guess i misread his question. I still think if your a hunter you should have those off, for cc purposes.
