hey guys ! i've just started to raid kara and gruul
got a few question on how to get the highest damage.

1.should i do slice and dice at the start of every mob? or when to use it ?
2.dose sinister strike reduce your attack speed ? couse everytime i do it feels like the damage is going slower
3.eviscerate / rupture / envenom ?

all the tips on raiding and doing damage are welcome

best advice i can give you is to go to elitistjerks.com and read the roguecraft 101 thread in the class mechanics forum. the first message covers pretty much everything you need to know.

but to answer your specific questions. assuming that you are a combat rogue...

1. keep snd up on the boss fights. the trash should be going down fast enough that it isn't really worth it.

2. no

3. generally rupture>evis>envenom. however in kara a lot of the mobs, trash and bosses, are bleed immune so you're going to be using evis most of the time. on maiden you should be using rupture, i think you can use it on some or all of the opera events. as i recall you can use it on the bosses past curator too. just try rupture if it won't go then switch to evis for your finisher.

Phail. SnD is by far the best rogue ability in the game, and it's pretty much a straight 15% increase to your DPS. Use it ALWAYS.

3.eviscerate / rupture / envenom ?

1. Put it up after you open on a mob. Generally, this is right after your Garrote. If you have the 2-piece T4 set bonus, your optimal rotations are 1s/5r (1-point SnD, 5-point Rupture).

2. No. Sinister Strike is an instant attack that works independently of your swing timers.

3. Rupture on long boss fights that aren't bleed immune. It'll work on Maulgar, Gruul, and pretty much every Kara boss except for Curator (and maybe Netherspite). On trash fights, you'll generally kill the mob before Rupture has enough time to do any significant damage, so use Eviscerate in that situation.

Envenom is generally not worth your time, especially since you want to keep your Deadly Poison on the boss ticking away. No sense in blowing a 5-stack of Deadly for roughly the same amount of damage as an Eviscerate.

Can't agree more. And I'm tyin'.

I honestly wonder (and I'm really not trying to be a jerk here) how someone can make it all the way to 70 and not know the answers to these questions unless you leveled Sub and respec'd to combat recently.

Anyway, common combat rotation for new 70 (no t4 set bonus assumed, Improved SnD is):
Rupture, Sinister Strike (now you have 2 combo points), Slice 'n Dice , Sinister Strike x4 or x5 (full 5 combo points), Rupture (long fights/bosses) or Eviscerate (on reg or bleed-immune mobs).

Note that you will probably break this rotation during the fights from time to time as you will be doing other things as well (interrupts, moving out of range, etc).

Hope that helps and good luck.

Don't know the OP but I can imagine there are a fair number of people who are kind of like that. They use things that work and have little or no interest in the mechanics behind why it does initially. Since leveling up can be done almost entirely solo, I can see how a person doesn't fully understand things (sometimes not even having a clue) but still keeps chugging through the levels.
