This is the DS/NS build from wowwiki. With this build, you'll be relying on HT as your main heal (and as such, I'd points into Naturalist instead of Improved Rejuv).

I get the impression that druids go OOM as a matter of course until they hit OL. There just isn't much leather caster gear on Azeroth. So despite your best efforts, be preapred to drink.

Yeah, the Restokin build really doesn't pick up all the talents it needs until past 60. You need 33/34 points in Balance for Dream State, and then another 13 to get 3/3 Intensity. Moonkin form actually helps a little with mana regen in that you have high armor and can melee a mob to death for the last 5% of it's health. You'll get out of the 5-sec rule on spirit regen, and get mana back from your melee hits.

Mages also have mana issues at lower levels, since for the most part, their conjured water is lower level than what they can buy and use. Priests can get 5/5 Spirit Tap in Shadow and get a lot of mana regen when they kill something. Warlocks... well, warlocks don't count. Life Tap + Drain Life = infinite mana for solo.

I'd reccomend getting 5/5 Furor, 3/3 Natural Shapeshifter, 2/5 the talent between Natural Shapeshifter and Naturalist, 3/3 Intensity, and Omen of Clarity. You can nuke a mob until it gets close, then shift to cat and melee it to death. By the time you shift out, you should have some of your mana back. Once you hit 40, respec for Moonkin form. The next 3 points you get should go in Dream State.

The only 'one up' mages have, is they carry a wand. Leveling as Ballance would not have made me change back to Feral after day 1, if I could have rooted them, and wanded them (get mana, and kill mobs fast).

My mage(s) all lowbie levels, 30 was my highest? I had the city ports w/e level that was. Anyway, mana was a huge issue until Nova/wand level was reached.

If Druid ever gets to carry a wand I'm goin to level another Druid as Boomkin (post-40)

I am currently looking to do the same thing... with my lil druid only at level 23 I have been exclusively Resto for the time being to get easy groups and be the main healer.

When solo, it is as stated, fire off a starfire, wrath, moonfire, and then transition into form. If it is one mob then go to cat form. If I am pulling three I do the same as above, except throw out a moonfire on all mobs, flash a Rejuv, and pop into bear form. The armor mitigates more than enough so that by the time the first mob gets to you and you switch to bear form, it will be 80%+ dead, so it helps build a bit of rage, the second mob you can just wail on, and the third you will finish off with 3 or 4 successive mauls as your rage is built up.

Then you pop out of Bear form, and cast a heal, rinse and repeat. No one talks much about how effective this is for leveling, and I have found it to be faster than Feral and pacing with a friend I have surpassed his leveling speed. Plus, groups want you for your number of heals offered compared to other healers at even low levels. This lets me get offers from instance runs all the time, which is worthwhile to keep you well equipped and with gold to spare as you do not have to shop the AH. (Heck, last night ran Deadmines for the first time, gained 2 levels, and got 2 blue weapons <staff and mace>, blue chest from quest, VC's cape, and Leggings from the smelter goblin... I was the only leather wearer in the group which helped, and the dps wanted cruel barb, not the big mace, plus the staff is better than the mace, but just a bit under the quest reward so the mage and priest did not mind me rolling on it against them... really good run that one.)

Now, when I hit 50, I may try out the general census and go with Feral as Mangle seems to be a huge dps boost and may be worth the trial.

So my recommendation is go full Resto until about level 28 - 30, and then flip to the secondary tree that you want. The bonus to going to Balance is that you will have access to all spells 90% of the time until you need to flip to Bear or Cat form.
