No matter what spec you are, never ever wait until you are below 2k health to start healing yourself in PvP.

Fact.

I'd actually have to agree with tommy on this one, though not necessarily through the scenario he's imagining.

The only scenario in which a Ret Pally should be healing in an arena or BG is if he's popped his bubble on his last leg. There is absolutely no reason not to heal to full in that situation. Other than that though, Ret Pallies shouldn't be healing in any form of team PvP. Their heals blow, and they should be treated like a Warrior, Rogue, or Enhancement Shaman. They are there to do damage. Period. Either their partner(s) are DPS and you run the suicide squad or one of his partners is a healer and heals.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If a Ret Pally or DPS Shaman starts healing, that's a pretty good sign the fight is about to end. Any DPS worth his salt is going to be able to chew through any health you could restore to yourself or your teammate as fast as you can cast; it's a delay tactic and it's only going to buy you a few seconds at best, assuming you don't just get locked out of it to begin with.

Arena is one thing, you will always have a pocket healer who is interested in keeping you alive. BG, Duels or world pvp is another.

I kinda followed Ruen's post as saying: once your swing, CS and judgement have all been expended and you have a few seconds left, squeeze a heal in at the end - which I think is reasonable given the long cooldowns that will remain till your next swing, judgement or CS.

This is what I've been thinking, and is one of the reasons I try to steer clear of PvP if at all possible. Kind of OT, but I have an Enhancement Shaman, and due to the severe lack of weapons for that spec, I've been PvPing to get 2 Gladiator's weapons (have 1 so far). I go all out doing as much DPS as I can (granted he is lacking gear at the moment, so it's not much), then constantly get chewed out for not healing. So, I try to just heal, in my half-assed healing kit, instead. Low and behold, the outcome doesn't get any better, cause my heals are pitiful and much more easily interruptible than if I was Resto. I can't keep up with the amount of damage being put out, even in healing gear, so why bother? I can only assume this is the same as a Ret Paladin.

Guess that wasn't really necessary to post, but the quote got me thinking of how much PvP sucks ... Had to get a little frustration out :)
