From Heroics to RaidsFollow

#1 Mar 13 2008 at 4:53 AM Rating: Decent
Hello All,

My progress and educaiton has now reached raids, namely Gruuls Lair, thanks to my new guild (Thesis). Anyway we downed the King but wiped on Gruul himself but was still great fun and on The King I was fifth in damage so was well chuffed :).

My question is regarding Kiggler who myself and another Hunter were concentrating on in the King fight. Would it be wiser for me in this situation to pop aspect of the wild, for the improved nature resistance, or aspect of the hawk (I have improved aoth) for the extra damage. I am favouring aotw but would appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Cheers

BTW, this is me I would appreciate your comments on set up etc.

Until you have him solid on farm, i'd say get the 2 hunters tanking him grouped and the least geared put up AotW.

As long as your healers have no problem in that fight, AotH is ok.
If healing is difficult for your healers, one of the two hunters should use Aspect of the Wild.

On a sidenote.
Please regem your gear.
The vendor gems with +4agi or +6sta are the worst gems to put into your gear.
You have mining as a profession. You should have no problem to get green or even blue quality gems. If you have none, green quality gems cost ~1-2g in the AH and they give +6agi / +9sta. There is no reason to use vendor trash gems.
And by the way, you don't need to gem according to the socket color. The socket bonuses largely are not worth it. Just put red gems (the +12/+16ap or +6/+8agi ones) in every socket where the socket bonus is not appealing (in your case that is in bracers and gloves).

And please enchant your gear. Raiding demands that everyone tries to give his best.
A few enchants here and there will increase your damage a lot, so get those enchants. Assault on bracers and gloves is really cheap (6 and 8 arcane dust. ~15g total on my server for 50 attack power).

edit: spelling

to demonstrate what enchants will do for you:
Head: glyph (34 Ap/16 hit)
shoulder: inscription +26 AP
back: +12 agi
chest: 2x +8agi, 1x 8ap/2mp5, +6 stats
bracer: 1x +8Ap/2mp5, +24 Ap
Gloves: 1x +8agi, 1x +8hit, 26Ap
Legs: +40Ap/10crt legpatch
Boots: +12 agi
Melee weapon: savagery
for a total of:
Agi +42
sta -6
int +6
Ap. +226
crt +6
hit +24
Mp5 +4

Wich would get you quite a lot closer to an acceptable AP level.
As well as closer to hitcap and more crit.

Dude, seriously. Spend your daily quest money on new gems and enchant your gear. Don't get stuck in this mindset that you'll replace it soon, so you don't want to waste the money. If you're raiding, you need to make the most of the gear you have.

Keep Wild on for now.
