I have two toons of almost equal level one is a level 41 Belf pally (ret for lvling and PvP), the other is a level 43 troll shammy (ehchantment for leveling)

After reading the forums on Shamans I found out that shamans PvP aparantly sucks. So I want to know now that there is no hope for me, because I get more satisfaction killing another player than illidan, as a shaman I love PvP if I could level using it but it would take almost twice as long I would do that thats just how much I love it.

What I want to know is the Ret pally experience at endgame close enough to that of a resto shamman because I signed up for both of these two to become sort of a combat medic who comes in to help others in melee while saving them with some heals but STILL DISHING IT OUT. So am I a lost cause looking for a class that doseant exist. Is there hope that I gave up too easily for my shaman in PvP which I inteand to do arenas. OR have I found new sancuary in the way of the paladin?

PS I've thought about druid a little but I dont want to restart AGAIN and have to level a new one. but they still look a little interesting.

Well a Ret Pally can bust out a 2-3k Holy Light. Which can be the difference between getting your *** handed to you and doing the handing. Not only that, but I got brutally molested by a Ret Pally once, 4k White Crit, 3.5k Command Proc, and then a 4k Command Crit. No need to heal someone when you're doing that crap.

Pretty much what I'm saying is, I know nothing about Ret, and this post is a complete waste of your time.

Cheers.

First I would really recommend reading the Ret guide and the Pally FAQ.

But for a short cut (and not all the facts)... Ret's damage basically lvls out at lvl 50. I do have a friend who plays a Ret Pally in pvp and is happy as all get out... so I guess a lot of it is what you like...

Pallys (like most classes) will do one tree well, and more than one not so well. Holy Pallys are noted as the best single target healer in the game, and actualy might be what you are looking for. They are great support, a little damage, and awsome at healing (and as a plate wearing class can take a beating as well) Great for 2v2 and 3v3 pvp. Running a Ret/Holy pally is probally going to end you with a poor experience and mad at Pallys in general.

Before digging into Shaman I have to say... these Forums are ok. I have a lvl 17 horde mage, a lvl 15 rogue, and a lvl 14 Shaman as well as my links below. I RARLEY play my horde or rogue. I LOVE my shammy and split my non-pally time between getting my priest to 70 and moving my shammy up. My point? The forums here are bad, except the Pally one. Jack, Dilbert and crew are the best and very well informed. The other forums... well the lack of info (and my lack of effort to find a good forum for other classes) is part of the reason I choose not to play my mage or rogue. I have a mate that has played a Shammy before. He's also played WOW for 3 years and is a great soure of info. THAT BEING SAID...

I hear that Ele Shammys have some of the best burst damage for PvP. I'm building a Shammy with the full idea of going PvP (prot pallys suck at pvp but I love prot, and my priest is going holy at lvl 70 for raids). I hope that my friend is right and (assuming that you got your lack of info from these forums) that Ele and Enh Shammys are great for PvP (intricate but great). I also understand that Shammys are better for 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5, as they are a group class.

For all those who love all these forums... sorry. My OPINION is that they suck except for the pally one. Take a shot of rum and move on if you don't share my opinion.

Hope I helped you out.

As for Shaman being sucky at PVP: yes there are situations that you will be hard-pressed to perform well (in your case: "kill other players"), but there are loads of good times as well. A well-played shaman is still one of the most fun and intense classes to play. One on one (sometimes in BGs or maybe world-PVP or something similar) if you are a good shaman you are very hard to beat. But to master all those tools and make them work in synq? Very tough, very rewarding, very much fun.

As for Ret paladins, read up on the forum, there are VERY many posts about Ret pallys ROCKZZZ and even more about Ret pallys SUCKKZZZ. Draw your own conclusions after reading them, there really is nothing that can be added in this thread, trust me.
