Yesterday i respecced my shaman to resto to make it easier to get into groups. (usually i find a group of three needing a tank and a healer.) Although I have way less +healing than i'd like, i am quit satisfied SO FAR with my healing efficiency.

I use mana totem every once in awhile if im about 1/2 way to keep the flow of the group going. I have one problem with it though. Compared to the druid and mage innervate/evocation, we get 6% of our mana every 3 seconds for 12 seconds..which gives us 24% of our mana.

Druids' innervate increases their spirit by 400%, full regeneration while casting, and lasts 20 seconds on a SIX MINUTE COOLDOWN.

Mages' evocation gets 60% of their mana back in 8 seconds and is on a EIGHT MINUTE COOLDOWN.

Both Druids and mages don't have to spec into their trees to get it, any spec can learn it. (yes i know they once had to, but things have changed)

They should either buff our mana totemor make it castable to any kind of shaman or is the blizzards look on the shaman really of this video i found acouple of weeks ago on Wowinsider.com?

Our mana tide totem affects the whole group [who are within 20/30 yards]where as the abilities of the other classes do not. After saying that though, I certainly would be in favor of a buff to our mana tide totem

mana tide is great as it is. its 24% mana to five people, which is basically the same as giving one person 95% of their mana back. mana tide also operates separately from spirit, meaning it gives the same benefit to high spr classes as it does to low. innervate is only really useful for high spr classes, namely druids and priests. mana tide works great on anything with mana.

While I'm not against shaman buffs, I think mana tide itself is fine. Just think, it used to be worse before TBC: instead of a percentage it would return a static amount of mana. Without scaling, it got progressively worse as your gear got better.

What does suck about mana tide is the talent pre-reqs. Restorative totems is arguably the worst talent in the resto tree, and the talent doesn't even apply to mana tide!

Riddle me this.

What is the difference between:

-Having to pick up 5 talents that do not affect Mana Tide Totem and only then being able to get a Mana Tide Totem that by default gives 24% of mana back, and

-Having to pick up 5 talents that boost Mana Tide Totem's effect by 10% and only then being able to get a Mana Tide Totem that by default gives 14% of mana back?

The answer is nothing. Putting boosting talents for the ability on the prerequisite to that ability would lead to people claiming, "Why not just put the "boost" on the actual ability itself if you cannot get the ability without getting the boost?"

well, restorative totems isnt THAT bad. i mean, over the course of a fight, mana stream totem is going to return a nice amount of mana to everyone, and chances are youre not using the water totem for anything else anyway (aside from the 12s mana tide is up). healing stream is also good for helping mitigate some aoe damage since its affected by healing and basically acts like a group-wide HoT.

on a per-heal basis the ticks arent worth much, but over the course of say, a five minute fight, youre talking tens of thousands of healing done across the party. on a fight like malacrass or eagle, thats a lot of extra aoe healing. on zul'jin phase 3, dropping a healing stream totem every two minutes can really help to mitigate the damage done by the spell backlash, and combined with NR totem can give a big break to your healers.
