heroic troubles...Follow

I am starting to wonder if it's me...

Every heroic I have ran we make it past 1 boss maybe 2 if we are lucky and get destroyed way to much even in Slave pens...

Starting to wonder if it is me and not something else. I have almost given up on running heroics but the gear there can help me more in Kara with the other guild I am running with.

I am currently doing arena to get my s3 Axe and I also want to get the S3 Leggings as it gives a nice amount of +hit and would like to get hitcapped if possible. Also the sooner I get these the sooner I can replace the leather shoulders I have been wearing with the S1 shoulders and I might get ganked less... (crosses fingers)

In all honesty though... If I replaced my leggings shoulder's and weapon with PvP rewards what is there left to get for a MM/SV hunter in Kara? WSR? I don't know but I do know that the PvP grind for gear is frustrating me lol.

kara is a badge farm really. Remember that S3 compares with T6 not T4.

I run heroics all the time, and usually have no problem. Just make sure you screen your groups. If someone still has greens, don't invite them, unless you know they are awesome. With the rep change anyone can do heroics so be more careful.

Heroic Shattered Halls requires well equipped people. The others not nearly so much. I would not invite anyone to Heroic SH that still has even one green item. The other heroics can be run fine with competent people having one or at most two greens or low level blues. The above assumes gear is enchanted.

Heroic BM also requires shitloads of... everything.

Finally completed heroic SH last nite, beating the timer and saving the last 2 prisoners to complete that stage of the Naaru quest line (first prisoner got his head chopped off I guess), just Arc left now!

Heroic BM, at least in my experience, works best with a Pally tank agro'n everything and keeping the adds on him. As a hunter, I've never had any luck in add duty, just can't kill them fast enough and stay alive. Mages seem to have the best luck at it.

And it is frustrating running Heroic's for gear when the item you want is not a guaranteed drop. I've been in so many PUG's that fall apart from either easily frustrated people or they just have no idea how different a heroic is.

I've never been much of a pvp'r, just recently started doing arena and perhaps work towards a few items there. At least those are a "sure thing".

Yeah I know it's on par with tier 6. I would like to actually get through Kara though... /sighs

I already got the vindicator items and didn't want to have to farm pvp for epics.

I am for sure gonna get my s3 legs and axe. if I still have the ability to stay cool through it when I finally get it I'll go for my helm and hide it because it looks retarded. I am gonna keep my Beastlord chest and gloves for the trapping.

Do you think I should get the other items and just put beast lord set on when I'm instance running?

That way I can have more resilience for PvP.

Its stupidly easy if you have a well coordinated and skilled group though.
Quickest 3 badges ever.

Even Kara is easy with a skilled group. I did a full clear (all 22 badges) in 3 hours last saturday. I've been in Heroic SLabs longer than that -_-;

to do that, you also need to overgear the instance quit a bit.
BM all you need is coordination and some skill... hardly such good gear.
Kara is a lot harder then that.

It was a pretty fair mix of gear. The tank and most of the DPS were over geared, but we were carrying through a PvP-specc'ed Resto druid in blues and a warlock that had only seen Kara once or twice. We probably would have gotten through even faster if we didn't have to take time to explain all the boss fights to the warlock...

doing Kara quickly does require decent gear, but it requires coordination and skill more than anything to prevent wipes and careless mistakes.

It requires a great deal more coordination to do Kara then to do heroic BM though ;P

BM is easysauce with a paladin tank. Just have the tank grab the adds and nuke the bosses.

For the real bosses, use a beacon at medivh and then ignore them.

So on an ancillary note, would you say you pretty much need about the same stats/gear to run a heroic as you would to start in Kara?

Since my guild split, I'm basically back to solo play, so any groups will have to be pugs. I don't want to not get invited on my hunter because of my gear. She has basically just been sitting there, so has no real gear yet.

My armory if anyone wants a chuckle http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aegwynn&n=Indis

I have done some PvP (which I hate) and am working on leveling up my LW for the epic pieces of crafted.

No, not at all. Since the patch which adjusted Heroics from a post-Kara environment to a pre-Kara environment people can run Heroics well before they are Kara ready. In fact running Heroics is one of the ways to get a character Kara ready.

Heroics are tougher than the same Instance run on normal level, to be sure. And they don't tolerate idiots very well. DPS who don't know how to avoid pulling aggro are going to die, fast. CC who are unable to keep a target CCed while still contributing DPS are not doing enough. Tanks with lousy mitigation or mechanical skills, or healers without decent +healing and attention enough to heal 5 people as needed are going to invite wipes. Everyone needs to know their class and their job, and carry it off with a high degree of coordination.

If you're Guildless and pugging all of your Heroics you're in for some rough times. Find good players and put them on /friends. Actually look at everyone's gear before you all enter the Instance. I've backed out of more than one pug Heroic due to the tanks gear level or an all-green equipped DPS. Use of consumables can overcome some gear shortages, but it's often true that people don't care to use them unless they feel that there's little chance of a death causing them to be lost. Which can then become a self fulfilling philosophy of failure.

[/quote]More like 1 fair step below kara ready (a.k.a mostly lvl 70 blues, maybe a bunch of greens but all enchanted at least half decently)
Heroics are a nice test for raiding in so far that they dont tolerate ********
If you ***** up the party will likely die.
In raiding, that is the same... if you accidentaly pull that second group, no way that you are going to survive that.
If you fail to follow the tactic on a boss, you will definately die, and quite possibly that will wipe the raid in the end.

Heroics are still a lot more forgiving of stupid mistakes though, but still they are a nice way of preparing you along with gearing you up.

Jeez. This thread is making me want to run heroics again, just to see if they've gotten any easier. I never got a single piece of gear out of a heroic dungeon before I quit them and started doing Kara.

I just never really had luck with heroics. Even when I did guild runs, I saw more wipes than I have ever seen in Kara. And these were the same people that I run Kara with every week.

Doing heroic SP now (smoke break) and we have 3 dps doing ~750-800dps.
We are absolutely blasting through with only 1 death, on the 2nd boss... because the paladins big heal was a tadbit to late after we killed the boss :P
