including T5 2set and voidstar trinket it can be more than viable for bosses.. just requires good control. though simply put, it doesn't seem to deal as much damage imo. gonna carry on testing though

could be interesting, I would like to see my flaroon in action again! btw I find dog sacrifice more useful for non stop farming when soloing.

You're probably feeling the glancing blows on that one. Most of a felguard's damage is white, and glances kill white dps (talk to a rogue sometime about trash vs boss glancings. You'll get a big QQ about it.)

don't worry i know alllll about the glancing issues. basically it'd help if there's an oomkin with improved faeri fire and a draenai melee class... hehe

Do you go full Mana Feed, or just one point and rest in Demonic Tactics? Do you max out Demonic Tactics and go for a Destruction sub-build, or do you leave Demonic Tactics be and go for Affliction supplements instead?

Any more than one point in Mana Feed is overkill, and a waste of points. Max Demonic Tactics, and Demonic Knowledge. As a Demonology spec, it can be very hard to maintain maximum damage (because we get less +damage than Affliction and probably Destruction), so spend your talents wherever you will become the baddest possible. Also, stamina will become more important than intellect, because it increases your spell damage, and it makes both of you last longer-- so no need for Fel Intellect.
I have 18 points in Affliction, which increases my concentration and makes Corrpution 4x as powerful. The rest is in Demonology. This is what I did, to give you an idea; http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Antonidas&n=Sederix

- Demonology gets more +damage than affliction/destruction. We get poorer coefficients.
- Fel Intelect is still important. Demonic Knowledge is 15% of your pet's Stamina + Intelect
- If you are 18 points in affliction with a felguard for raid dps, go reroll.
- Your concentration may increase, but your knowledge of the class hasn't.
- Corruption isn't 4x as powerful. Lawl.
- Go reroll
- plz fiz mai felguard
- Nerf soda

Wow, what an awful spec. What kind of idiot doesn't have ISB and Bane for any kind of heavy lifting?

The fact that you stack haste out the *** probably has something to do with that.. haha

due to how much gear i have to swap out to get to 202 hit, i only have about 4% haste on bosses :P anywhoo, haste is the best next to hit for almost every spec (come 2.4 it will be the best stat next to hit for every spec). no reason not to stack the hell out of it :P
#38 Mar 16 2008 at 8:02 AM Rating: Default
That's not entirely true. Even with the dawn of 2.4 collecting a significant enough quantity of haste to make an affliction rotation short enough to produce ANY results is going to be a daunting task. Because it doesn't do anything for the DURATION of your DoTs, you will need to collect enough haste to produce an entire global cooldown/DoT rotation. For a 4 DoT rotation you are looking at having to produce 25% haste, which is essentially maxing it out with every piece of haste gear in the game. The only real way to make haste effective for affliction is to either stack the hell out of it or retool it to work for how quickly DoTs tick in the same way it effects channels.

the decrease in gcd, mixed with how much haste affects SB, it will be a dps increase, even if simply due to allowing you to cast a tighter dot rotation. also anything over 11% spell haste will allow for an aditional SB to be cast inbetween dot renewals.
with no haste, you're stuck choosing between 5 SBs + a 1second wait before renewing immolate or 6SBs and a 1.5second gap between dot renewals, seeing as dots deal more dpsc than SB, the 1second wait is better than the 1.5seccond wait. with 11% haste you can get 6 SBs in AND renew immolate on perfect time.

Which DoTs are you applying in that cycle.

a rotation of UA/corruption and immolate (standard rotation with a curse every 2-5min), then the most logical rotaiton would be
UA > corruption (both land at same time) > immolate. in which case once you get to the point of renewing immolate, you can then renew the other two as well. keeps a tight cycle and allows for as much SB nuking inbetween as possible.

When I dropped Fel Intellect, the reduction in spell damage was not even noticeable. There was a related thread, even stating that FI is useless on this forum, if you wanted to read about that.
I am very hard to kill in PVE. So, your little stab is baseless, and I am the least burden on the group's healer. But, go ahead and spend your 3 talent points in +Int, because you need it more than I.

Correction: it's more like Corruption 3x more powerful, sorry, I was wrong. And, I can explain why it's still better than not improving it at all.

Rank 8 has 900 base damage over 18 seconds, with a coefficient of about 94%. Empowered Corruption (rank 3) adds an additional 36% coefficient, which comes to about 130%.
My +damage is 800 (rounded-down).
Plus, 130% coef., becomes 1040 +damage.
900 + 1040 = 2740. With Soul Link, that becomes 2877 (2740 x 0.05).
900 x 3 = 2700.

I'd say that's pretty close to 3x more powerful, do you not agree?
It occurs to me, that I would much prefer instantly DOT someone for that much, than having to waste 2 seconds to DOT for a ****** 900 damage (at least).

Where else are you going to spend those 3 talent points that will do you any good?

Corruption isn't 3x more powerful if you go 20 points into affliction. You're forgetting that even without imp and empowered corruption spell damage is added to the spell. By picking up those three points, corruption gains 272 damage done to the target. 272 is not 3x.

Any PVE build without ten points in destruction is not a pve build. So gtfo.

Incidentally, having Shadow Mastery makes my Shadow Bolts 5x as powerful.

See, normally he average damage is like 400, but in a raid I can crit for almost 4k, and so that MUST be the shadow mastery talent, right?

Sederix, you are not qualified to give advice. Stop.

It is, when you are not Affliction; of course mastering that skill tree makes all your shadow spells more powerful. I was making that suggestion to someone that was thinking of being Demonology. One could put all 61 points in a single tree, but I think it's a good idea to enhance the spells/abilities that you use the most, and I dont know anyone who has ever won a PVP match with just their minion :)

I myself have a lvl 62 warlock on medivh ( http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Medivh&n=Boldag ). I have to say demon and affliction are a lot alike in that with trash mobs they dont get high dps but demon gets more dps with fel gaurd out. Also i've found that after your able to get your fel gaurd respecing to get more int and stam will increase the amount of spell dmg you get. i have 11/43/0 right now. I love my demon spec. in normal combat i keep around the lower dmg meter but my boss battles i can easly get 2nd and 3rd placing. Very rarely 1st. Also not having to get +spell dmg gems is nice cause i can get +int gems to increase my mana and my spell dmg on two different levels. For the int and stam combo for more spell dmg. Bring out the imp with maxed improved imp talent will give you even more life and more spell dmg. (Also the ability to summon a pet in .5 secs totally owns in pve and pvp. Also sacking voids in PvP is nice as well for the strongest shield in the game >.> )
