Question about DPSFollow

Currently, I am 0/20/41 with a S1 mace MH and S2 OH dagger in my OH. MH is chanted with executioner and OH is mongoose.

If I were to go combat swords and get the S1 MH and OH sword, I wouldn't be able to chant them for a while, as I'm poor and have the impulse control of a fat chick in a cheap buffet.

So, I'm just wondering, would my DPS be better as Combat swords even considering I lose those chants? Thanks for any help.

PS: This is for raids, obviously not PvP.

Off the top of my head, I would say yes, go swords. After thinking about it a bit, I say fgo find a spreadsheet or something.

According to the elitist jerks rogue spreadsheet doing T4 quality raids, the hemo debuff is sufficient damage increase to negate the loss of personal dps.

So I say stay hemo, talk to class leader, and enjoy the spare cash...if u get any Smiley: nod.

My class leader wouldn't have it, and I was sick of respeccing every other day for PvE/PvP so I quit raiding...

Keep the weapons but repsec to a tri-spec hemo.

He'd still be losing dps since you can't get 2 weapon specs with the tri-spec Hemo. Either grind out the honor for the swords(preferably), or grind out the honor for a OH mace and respec combat maces.

You'd probably still gain more dps from unenchanted swords than you would a tri-hemo or combat maces.

I apologize for the wall of text, and hope that it doesn't discourage anyone from reading and helping. ^^

I appreciate the link very much and have read all of that page thoroughly multiple times now and still have a few questions. I recently obtained my MH S1 sword and was able to squeeze some gold from my tight rear and get mongoose on it right away. So, I've gone combat sword/dagger with the OH staying the same as previously stated earlier in the post.

According to the link, because I am using Combat Potency the faster the weapon, the more DPS you technically obtain from that said weapon. Now being the S2 OH dagger is .1 faster than the S1 OH sword and also 6.5 DPS higher; that should, according to the poster on elitists, give that dagger a 16.5 dps lead over the sword(assuming that for every .1 speed faster add 10dps). HOWEVER, I am obviously losing out on the 5% chance to proc on my OH sword. . .(and also possibly be without OH mongoose for a little while).

So, with all of this in mind, my question I pose to your experienced raiding rogues is, what is your experience? With all of this to take into consideration what would you suggest I do to maximize my personal dps? I am still grinding for my S1 OH Sword, but is the DPS that I would get extra from that weapon and mongoose that I need to spend gold on to get worth it?

To help a bit, possibly here is my armory. . .http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kel%27Thuzad&n=Colorless

My first or second run through Kara netted me the big bad wolf paw fist weapon and having the reflex blades banked I swapped to combat fists and instantly moved to the top 2 in dps in Kara.

I also topped dps in Gruuls a few times.
But as the entire group geared up I started slipping in my dps mainly on the bosses.
And in arena and bg's high res and high defense/armored targets were near impossible because of the reliance on crits for the dps, I picked up the S1 off hand fist but it made little difference.
Recently I pickes up the S1 main/S2 off hand and mongoosed them both and respeced combat swords. The biggest change I noticed was the increase in energy from the extra swings procking. I seem to be able to get off more of my specials to keep targets locked down and ties up than before,
My arena partners ( Lock and Hunter) cannot believe the change since I basically only changed the weapon spec I have now moved up to give them some competition in the damage area in arenas on our 2's and 3's and they out gear me long shot.
I havent really raided yet since the change but on the first boss in ZA I was 2nd behind the lock by a mere 1200 points.

I didn't even think about the fact that the extra swings have a chance to proc Combat Potency. Good call old man!

They don't. Sword spec procs are mainhand swings, not offhand.

Is it the pair S1 swords or duel mongoose then? My energy regen is most definately better than before there ar no long pauses waiting for energy like I had with the fists even the S1 off hand fist.

If your hit rating has gone up it's probably that.

A personal note on fists:

As I was running BGs for the s1 weapons I happened to snag a 71dps fist during one of my many, many runs after an assassination piece. So I figured I'd try it out for a bit while I was working on the honor points to upgrade my swords.

After testing both pairs of weapons (with a respec between) I noticed virtually no difference in my personal net DPS. I was careful in my comparison (same dps on each pair of weapons, same number and type of mobs) and was pretty surprised. Apart from the loss of dps in pvp due to the crit-gimp, they were both about the same in actual output.

When I had my honor I decided to go fists more for aesthetic reasons really. I've never seen another rogue of any other spec or weapon do all that much better in the damage meters after a run or raid. And to be honest, seeing a few more crits is just, well, cool.

I fully realize that at some point (I'm guessing around t4 raiding) I will probably have to spec back to swords for the more even threat generation (a string of heavy crits can make your tank upset). But for the time being, I like my fists and even if the spreadsheets say that the total potential damage is slightly lower, I've seen no practical difference.

Just my two pennies.
