2s and 3s teams.Follow

So now that my rogue is my PVP character I figured it was time to get him on an arena team just to start getting some points.

I've got a 2s and 3s team sitting around from the beginning of S3 both at around 1400 rating.

My rogue is sitting at a woeful 8700 HP unbuffed and around 50 resil, so I know I shouldn't expect too much.

A warlock guildmate with full S1/Vind's needed a teammate that would actually show up joined my team, but we haven't had a chance to play any matches yet.

We also found a guildmate resto druid to play on our 3s teams.

Now, I have a couple of questions.

How are these teams going to fare once I have at least some of the gear I need to be competitive in PVP?

What is my role on each of these teams?

Any other suggestions to make my 2nd foray into arena less painful?

Those are good comps.

Just make sure they're specced well for arena.

(Druid: 8/11/42, Lock: 24/37/0)

Your role is going to be sticking to your target.

Neilyo ran a lock/rogue comp in one of his videos a while ago, and he ran a druid/lock/rogue comp in Neilyo 12. I'd check 'em out.

It's hard to give advice, because you're going to be doing something different against each comp you run up against. You really need to learn how to counter other classes; you can't just go with a "well you gotta kill this guy first on this comp" kind of strat because depending on gear, you may be killing another person first.

Bottom line, if you're not an experienced PvPer and your guildies aren't, don't expect much at all.

Theophany is correct, you need to learn how to counter specific classes as well as FoTM matrices, especially at lower ratings as there are a greater diversity of team setups there (and just because it doesn't work at 2.2k doesn't mean it won't counter your setup).

The lock has some nice gear and seems to know what he's doing.

We did out first week of games today and went 8-2, and I have all of 65 resil.

The 3s team hasn't done any matches yet but we should be doing them tonight.

I also put together a 5s team with an MS warrior, the same lock, a resto sham, and we're looking for 1 more healer, but haven't found one yet.

5s with an MS is turrrible.

Run a 4dps setup and you have a shot, but it will start losing its spark quickly.

No warrior on 5s? REALLY?!?!?

Well my only healer right now is a resto sham, so I know BL will be nice.

We def have me as ShS rogue, an MS warrior, Demo lock, and the resto sham.

What class would compliment that well?

Mage for CC and burst. You could make a decent 4dps with all that.

I was running:

MS War
SP
Rogue
Paly
Sham/lock

Got it to 1850 or so, but with a War you just run into to many stalls having 2 melee.

ShSRogue/FMage/DPriest/SlWarlock/RDruid.

Would be my advice. One of the few popular 5v5 teams with a rogue over a Warrior.

Well the warrior is a guildie and we already invited him, so we're stuck with both unless the team really sucks.

If it does we'll kick him and pick up an spriest.

Still trying to find a damn mage though...
