i know there are probably millions of this thread aready ,however, i can't seem to find one, so i am curious if i am ready to tackle some of the easier heroics.

here's my armory
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Frostmane&n=Pierree

sorry if this is a stupid question w/ an obvious answer that i could have found in a few minutes, but i wasn't able to.
also it seems i have my riding crop equipped, i use the trinket fro ma quest in terrokar i think, with 22 spell hit and then dmg when used.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As a tank, I wouldn't take you tbh. 565 shadow damage is a bit low. I've finished heroics with people who have lower damage than that though. (they are usually mages, and the sheep ability is the added bonus).

I got to +1000 shadow damage (with fel armor) within a week on my lock, just because of my crafted epics. Maybe you should look into buying some?

I'm not saying that you won't get into heroics at all, I'm just saying that anyone who uses the armory to choose players (like me) would take somone else. Try heroic mech, slave pens or HP to get a feel for it. As a general tip I would try and get better gear from normals before attempting to do heroics.

All blues + 4 epics was a tip I got once, seems like a nice pointer still.

well the thing is i will nto drop mining to take up tiloring, so no crafted epics for me. Right now i am shooting for the oblivion spaulders and gloves to round out that set, and maybe buying an unyeilding girdle. any suggestions on were to pick up some new rings and trinkets? and a cloak, i really need a new cloak.

Check http://www.wow-loot.com/warlock for some information. Scroll and find your spec and the bet gear pre kara will be listed. Get all the items you can pre heroic from quests and regular instances and you should be fine. and as far as tailored sets go look for either battlecast or spellstrike, the mats can be a bit expensive depending on server but are very helpful in the long run.

Grind cash, get the +40 damage. Get an off hand and you're good to go for most heroics. :)

You are severely gimping yourself. The FSW set is better than D3, T4 and pretty much on par with T5 until the set bonus. FSW has good sockets too.

Can mining do that for you?

I'm finding it very hard to give up herbalism for tailoring myself. Of course the whole limited to only two professions still bothers me after this long (played way too many MMOs before WoW that didn't have that limitation). I'll be getting the BoEs of course, but while the FSW is very nice, I can understand the pain caused by the thought of giving up a "hundreds of gold a day from casual play" profession.

So my question is: Are there any healthy alternatives to the FSW set?

i got 40 sp dmg to my spellblad,e still runnign for off hand and rest of d3 oblivion set. reason i refuse to dropminign is this, it makes me money for my epic fley, and WOTLK is comign eventually, and there will be new thigns to mine and new engineerign things to make, so i will need minign w/ expansion, ecen if it is far off.

i now have 705 unbuffed damage and i think 68 hit rating. i hope i am ready for most of the heroics, at least slave pens.

I ran my first Heroic the other day. Yes, it was only Mana Tombs, but we walked the trip to the end boss. Fell down there. COuldn't take him. I have no idea if I'm supposed to be ready for it:

Armoury

I like to think I am and I'm still going after the BG reward gear.

Edit: I wouldn't take you. Feckin' Gnomes...

you are ready for heroic-instances. but your specc is rather odd.

hmm thought i had a pretty standard ua build, i will look at that one, and i also have an update. ran my first heroic the other night, Mech, made it all the way to final boss and cleared it too. wiped twice, once at nethermancer and once o last boss.

EDIT: looked at the build you linked, i would liek to stay affliction, not go demo or destro. whats so weird abotu my Ua build? Lack of supression maybe? but my dots dotn get resisted too often, i alreayd have 100 spell hit. cant really think of anything else other than i missed shadow burn in destro.

It's one I have spent a long time tweaking to my own personal preference. It may not be DPS-tastic or top any damage meters, but with it I KNOW, given the way I play, I will stay alive, as will my group.

Each to their own, eh, Oaken. :o)

0/0 Demonic Resilience (ouch!)
2/3 Demonic Knowledge
4/5 Demonic Tactics
3/3 Mana Feed + 2/2 Improved Life Tap (serious pet mana regeneration going on there)

Indeed, I'm not even in Heroics yet and I think it's a bit odd. I'd take two points from Mana Feed and max out Demonic Tactics and Demonic Knowledge. Of course, I'd also take the three points from Soul Siphon and Improved Drain Soul and put into Demonic Resilience. Really helps with the Felguard's survivability.

Don't know if Shadowburn is worth it if you're not into PvP much.

Again, I see the utter logic in that, Mazra.

I've played and played and played (to the tune of several hundred gold!). This build suits me - and I KNOW it's a weird set up for Demo.

Nor have I finished tweaking. :o)

I'm not saying it's a wrong build, or anything like that, just odd. Perhaps 'uncommon' is a better word.

However, I fully agree that you should roll with the build that suits you best. Having the cookie cutter build means jack if you don't feel comfortable with it.

your 70 now, there's other ways for casual players to make money other than mining/herbalism. There's these great quests called dalies, and there's also farming primals, both of which can make you just as much if not more money than mining or herbalism. Once WotLK comes out, and there's new engineering stuff to make, you can buy the mats you need off the AH with the money you make from dalies and farming. If mining is the only way you can seem to make money, then keep it I guess, but you really are gimping yourself.

true about many ways to make money, but i like to also have mining to help me. how much does powerlvl to 375 tailorign and then the FSW set cost?

If you buy all the cloth and stuff? A couple thousand at least. Once you hit mageweave cloth starts getting pretty costly.

Besides that though, FSW will cost you an additional few hundred G per piece if you buy all the primals and shadowcloth off the AH.

damn forget that then, i hardly have the gold to buy flasks and pots, let alone a few k g to powerlvl a profession. ill stick w/ mining to bring in some steady cash so i can get my epic flyer. Thanks for all the good info guys.

I'd say you're ready for heroics, since I go in with a relatively similar build and statset (I have a 50/50 PVP/PVE setup right now...) The most important thing for you is to quickly guage how long monsters are going to be alive and what's worth throwing on (usually in Heroics at least Corruptions worth it for Nightfall proc.)

I wear a half-retarded PVP/PVE set with a UA Talentset similar to yours (gets the job done in 5mans and messes with healers in PVP.) I'm severly lacking in Hit, but my decent Spell Damage combined with a good DoTRot puts me on top of Boss fights every time (in 5mans), and SBolt spam keeps me on top entire runs except agains exceptionally geared Hunters or smart Mages. Really depends on which instance we're doing.

Changing your spec once you get enough Spellhit (you'd still need more) will produce much better Burst Damage which is semi-sustainable, however you'll lose the endless mana that I love with Affliction -- it's really up to you. I'm sticking with UA build until my guild can get higher in the Raiding department (still doing Kara/SSC) because I hate having to make my HP dip so low just for more SpellHit.
