Wow @_@ I have to admitt that getting kited by a 54 mage (Gnome on top of that!) on my 57 Warrior was very....sigh T_T. Im just used on my drood (main) to shift out of them I guess.

So I take it mages are our "Damn chuuu" class? So far thats the only one I really cant get my precious MS on as much as I would like. Nerf blink!

BG trinket and Intercept FTW, also carry some free action pots with ye. Don't know what happened in the fight, but I'm guessing you're in PvP server and a lower level mage beat you by kiting Smiley: wink

For me, When I see a mage even thinking about doing something I beat them to it. That way I catch them off guard.

Yesterday I took a shaman that attacked my wifes pali that way. completely broad sided him and dropped him quick.

(gotta love Personal Sentry lets me know when enemies are about without me having to completely notice them.)

Aye Gyfford, I'm on Tichondrius and was questing in WPL killing some skeletals when out of Gnowhere....BAM! frostbolt to the face o_O". I did land a juicy 1100 MS crit before she began her kiting.

I was already in Zerker and used my intercept (I have imp intercept as well) but she blinked, I froze and used my bg trinket. That's when she pulled the elemental and me being slowed by her frostbolts wasn't getting anywhere.

So from now on when I see a mage ::evil grin::

Oooof, sounds like you just ran into a really good PvP'er. Taking on a higher level should prolly have given that away Smiley: tongue.

Sounds like you were behind the 8 ball from the start. Next time keep your eyes open!! lol J/k that's why I CAN'T be in a PvP server. From log on to log off my camera was in a non-stop whirlwind motion scaning for gankers. I had to take motion sickness pills Smiley: disappointed Kidding. However, after 32 levels of PvP server.. I had it, deleted my toons.

PvP servers are where I get my jollies. I have 18 toons.

/facepalm

damned altitis got to me real good. well I actually have 20... but 2 are nameholders for when the Deathknights come out. and I got 9 horde 9 alliance. Night elves/ humans/ draenai/Blood elves/ undead and tauren. Mostly Elves as I am a slight Elf elitist. (always been my favorite race in the stories and games)

though I only have 3 toons with mounts and only 1 70. =S maybe I should have just leveled up 3 70s instead but meh...

mage will always counter warrior unless the warrior vastly outlevels or outgears the mage, or the mage is afk or just stupid.

try not to intercept them until AFTER they blink. that usually guarantees a win, at least before resilience starts to play a factor.

the best advice i could say would be to bring a pally or priest. cleanse/dispel and BoF makes a mage's life hell. i prefer priest, because dispelling nova works just as well as BoF does, and they can remove all the buffs mages have that make life hard for warriors.

staright up 1v1 it is hard to beat a mage.

in a BG if i see a mage stand back and FB'ing i will wait for it to use blink and/or frost nova, then charge it, switch to zerker and smash it up

i get 2 ways to remove snare, escape artist ftw

Last time I fought a mage (I'm on a PvE server) was in AV. Was trying to run pass FWGY and head on to RH when the mage sheeped me. 2 Frostbolts and it didn't hurt me much so I knew he/she wasn't in very good gear. Switched to Beserker > Intercept...this is where I got lucky,

White dmg crit > sword spec crit > MS crit > White dmg > Despair proc crit.

One very dead undergeared troll mage :)

EDIT: Spelling =/

yeah, those combos are nice. i had one in an eye of the storm a few days ago. death wish was on and i had the zerking buff and some mage had been pelting me with frostbolts for the entire duration of this crazy melee at mage tower. finally things had calmed down enough that i was able to turn my attention to him, so i Q'ed up heroic strike, intercepted him, and mashed the MS button.

HS and MS landed at the same time, which is a split second before he blinked. both crit for over 3k, with the HS critting for a hair over 3500. the mage blinked away and reappeared dead. it was awesome.

I love it when the fun stuff happens. My main is a frost mage, and I rolled a warrior after I kept getting crappy tanks in instances (I've learned soooo much now that I have a tank myself).

I've been leveling Protection (yes, I'm crazy, but 1 hand spec FTW), and the best advice I can give that isn't repeating someone else is to be sure to use your stuns. I was in the badlands a few weeks ago, and a 45 blood elf mage starts winding up a pyro (pvp server), so I charge, Hamstring, he blinks, Intercept, Whirlwind, he Frost novas, I hit Concussion Blow, all the while just smacking him around. This sort of thing continues for a while as I kill him through his mana shield. The trick to it, is to keep the mage from using his tricks to kite you.

The next week, I saw the same mage try it again, but this time he was frost spec. I got hit with frost bite on his first frostbolt, and he was able to just keep it up. The one time I actually got close (intercept + Concussion Blow), he was able to shield, frost nova and blink away. After this happened 3 times, I got my wife on (balance druid), waited for the mage to show up again, and proceeded to rape him with all the stuns and snares a druid and a warrior can do.

Moral of the story, perfect counters, or a healer is the only way to win.

From a mages perspective, warriors are almost free kills. Every three minutes, for 45 seconds, I can kill just about any class up to 4 levels above me (does not count level 70 or BM Hunters). This can start as early as level 50 with a mage. Icey Veins + Summon Water Elemental of Doom + Frostbite + Shatter + Coldsnap means that a mage has 4 frost novas, each of which give him an additional 50% crit, at 200% damage.

Right now my mage is level 66, and even without blowing my Coldsnap (rarely necessary) I can put out 8000 damage in 8 seconds. (Frost Nova -> Frostbolt+Ice Lance -> Freeze (Water Elementals frost nova) -> Frostbolt+Icelance)

Armory links: Mage and Warrior

P.S. Don't get Icey on your sword, I thought it would be useful for runners, I was wrong.
