With Enhancement's ridiculous mana generation, should you even care about Shamanistic Focus?

Personally I spam SS, Flameshock on slow-dying mobs, Earthshock, and Fire Nova, and still find it really difficult to run out of mana. And that's with switching between Water and Lightning shield (so some of the time water isn't even up)

I can definitely see that for certain types of pulls you should care about mana efficiency, and I don't spam Fire Nova all the time, but waiting for Shamanistic Focus seems odd (although you're really not usually "waiting" for it since it's up most of the time)

I ually like to open with flame shock to pull a mob to me. I've read several posts that say it really benefits from +spell damage and will greatly boost your DPS. When the mob gets to me, I do an auto attack and SS. About this time, my shock cood down is up and I'll ES to utilize the damage increase from SS. If you have a decent crit rate, made even better with dropping GoA totem, SF will proc quit a bit.

In an instance you have to worry about threat and not just mana regen.

Spamming ES every 6 seconds could lead to pulling hate, especfially if you get an unlucky (lucky?) string of crits then crit an ES after a Stormstrike.

Flame Shock has a better damage to mana ratio than Earth Shock, but the 20% extra damage from SS makes it worth it.

If you have an Ele Shaman or a Balance Druid in your group dont use Earth Shock though, the other Shaman's or the Druid's spells will be more powerful with the +20% than your Earth Shock.

Most important thing for me to remember is to not waste SS. If you are in the middle of a Windfury and SS finishes cooldown I like to wait for one auto attack to make sure Windfury doesn't proc and then Stormstrike. I find my dps increases when I use stormstrike to increase windfury chances rather than just using it on cooldown.

My combat rotation would go like this

1. Drop totems while tank builds initial threat.
2. Flame Shock and commence auto attack.
3. If first autoattack(2 hits for DW)procs a windfury, save SS until WF is off cooldown.
4. If first attack does not proc WF, SS right away.
5. Earth Shock when available.
6. Flame Shock next.
7. About here SS should be nearly off cooldown. If you are not in the middle of a WF, SS right away, if you are wait for the cooldown and then SS.
8. Continue from #5

A handy trick is to use the WF "tornado" graphic as an indicator of when your next WF can proc, as it lasts three seconds like the internal cooldown.

Basically you're just alternating ES and FS on cooldown, and making sure not to SS during a WF. Thats all there is to it really.
