Thanks for looking and if you can offer some help I would be grateful.

What I need is a good talent build PATH for a 16th lvl warrior. I will be ending up prot, however I need to be able to function solo along the way.

If you can include any advice as well that would be great.

This is my first non-priest in 3 years (I have 4 70 priests).

I just am having trouble finding good info for the lower lvls.

Thanks in advance.

I can not even imagine why anyone would want to level the same class to 70 that many times.

Anyway, I'd recommend going arms or fury initially and respecing to prot later. Before endgame arms and fury warriors can tank perfectly fine and they also do a lot more DPS which makes for much faster leveling.

Thanks, I need to know what early talents to choose. There isnt much out there for low level toons.

As to the other...well, you need a holy spec, a facemelter and a disc...then of course having played the best...I had to try an alliance priest.

Level as prot?

First off, the obvious: Don't do it. Instead, level fury and learn to hold aggro while being specced as that. If you manage that you'll have no trouble what-so-ever tanking as prot, whereas you might have trouble tanking as non-prot if you've leveled with it.

Second, if you insist: Your goal.

10-14: 5/5 in Deflection.
Motivation - Increased survivability in addition to far superiority compared to other talents in the tier. Also increases Revenge probability.

15-17: 3/3 in Thunderclap.
Motivation - As you learn how to tank you'll see that while fighting two or more mobs TC is a very good option to keep mobs running for other members of the party.
You'll find you use this ability more and more frequently, so not talenting it would be a mistake. Before talents, you'll find it your most effective AoE threat source. After talents, you'll find it one of your most used tanking abilities as well as over 20% of your damage output.

18-20: 3/3 in Tactical Mastery.
Motivation - In alot of Azeroth instances you'll find that charging in to groups of mobs isn't as risky as in Outland instances. Getting TM will let you do this for some extra rage in the beginning of the fight. It also helps the odd Taunt resist, when you have to switch to Battle Stance for Mocking Blow.

21-22: 2/2 in Imp. Bloodrage.
Motivation - Getting 5/5 in Anticipation is likely to leave you rage starved if you're fighting less than two mobs in lower instances, especially if you instance enough to have almost full instance blues. Instead maxing a rage gimping talent that you won't need with superior gear, you choose two rage channeling talents in the same tier.

23-27: 5/5 in Shield Spec.
Motivation - Rage efficient and increases Revenge probability.

28-30: 3/3 in Defiance.
Motivation - A must-have talent for obvious reasons. The reason for picking this before Imp. Shield Block and Last Stand is that this will greatly increase your threat in all instances you do, thus giving you more control over mobs. LS will give you nice utility while you're near death, but since you're instancing 99-9% of the time and dieing 0.1% of it, you can save LS for later levels. Imp. Shield Block will increase Revenge probability and damage taken, but can also be spared for a few levels.

31: 1/1 in Imp. Shield Block.
Motivation - Imp. Shield Block yields more frequent utility than LS does.

32: 1/1 in Last Stand.
Motivation - Gz! A new 'oh sh*t' button.

33-35: 3/3 in Imp. Sunder.
Motivation - Rage efficient and very good for the high-tier talent 'Devastate'.

36-37: 2/2 in Imp. Taunt.
Motivation - Gz! Shorter CD on your first 'oh sh*t' button!

38: 1/1 in Concussive Blow.
Motivation - Yet another 'oh sh*t' button, but more importantly linked to Shield Slam.

39-41: 3/3 in Imp. Revenge.
Motivation - Mob damage increases with levels, and you should start to worry about it soon enough. This will give you a nice surprise every now and then when your mashing away your tanking rotation.

42: 1/5 in Anticipation.
Motivation - Dump it.

42-45: 3/3 in Shield Mastery.
Motivation - Increases your block value by 30%, thus giving Shield Slam a nice boost when you get it in three levels.

46-47: 2/5 in One-Handed Weap. Spec.
Motivation - Increases all damage you deal while wielding 1h weapons, very nice indeed. We'll max it after we get Shield Slam.

48: 1/1 Shield Slam.
Motivation - One of your highest threat abilities. It would be shameful not to get it.

49-51: 3/3 in Focused Rage.
Motivation - Rage efficient. Makes Thunderclap and Devastate godly.

52-54: 5/5 in One-Handed Weap. Spec.
Motivation - Told you so.

55-57: 3/5 in Vitality.
Motivation - Increases your strength (and thereby block value and AP) but more importantly; increases your stamina. Very nice talent that we'll max out after getting Devastate.

58: 1/1 in Devastate.
Motivation - Nice new talent for outlands! You should work hard on perfecting tanking rotations with this.

59-60: 5/5 in Vitality.
Motivation - Told you so, again.

61-65: 5/5 in Cruelty.
Motivation - Nice TPS multiplier.

66-68: 3/3 in Imp. Heroic Strike.
Motivation - Makes Heroic Strike insanely cheap, increasing its usefulness of negating your next white for extra threat and damage in excessive-rage-situations.

89-70: 2/5 in Imp. Demo. Shout.
Motivation - Lets you cap out AP reduction on bosses. Discouraged for raiding builds, since you'll have fury warriors with excessive GCD's being able to both spec this at the cost of Unbridled Wrath (no real loss...) and keep it up for you while you use your GCD's for your rotations. However, very useful in 5-mans and heroics where there isn't room for a class with really high DPS but no CC or other utility.

Optional: Max out Anticipation at the cost of Imp. Demo. Shout and Imp. Heroic Strike. Advisable to do if you're aiming for heroics but still haven't managed to reach uncrittability yet (NOT likely if you instance a lot).

Happy reading.

Thanks for that build information.

Now, I sent him a pm asking for advice if I decided not to lvl as prot.

I am hoping someone can help with that advice so that I might make the best lvl'n decisions.

It's quite difficult to to this, having to both go through areas I haven't spent any time in years and then to do it as a class I haven't played.

Fun...yet difficult.

Tanks again...

As written in the reply: Lost of great leveling builds here in an easy to read, step by step guide to the order of the talents to pick.

They're all either Fury or Arms. The only prot step by step guide I've seen is two posts above.

I think 2H fury is good, if not best. I used all the weopons. Seemed like axe hit hardest, but for a gnome it doesn't matter. Later you might want to try dual wield, I cannot find two weapons yet. USE Heroic Strike every time it light up.

Thanks for the tip.

Question to those at large....

Is there much difference between

2handed axe, 2 handed mace and 2 handed sword?

I realize that each weapon has its own stats...however should I focus on one style or lvl them all up?

Like you said, each weapon has its own stats. If you go ARMS, then you will spec into one weapon and should stay with that one. Otherwise, wharever works best

I do indeed too enjoy solo play more with 2h because if the insane personal DPS you can put out. However, if you instance a lot you're really missing out on not getting Imp. TC... It's expendable, but also immensely helpful.

Actually, only if you've got excessive rage. BT and WW are much better abilities to keep on CD (not that HS actually has a CD...)

Aye, you should be looking at stats, partly. If you're Slam specced, you have to look to the weapon speed too though. You'll be wanting as slow weapons as possible.

If you go arms, Poleaxe spec is arguably the best since it's more versatile; applying to 3 weapon types. Not to mention the many axes in lower instances, in addition to IBS and the ramps polearm.
