New Leatherworking Pattern in 2.4 better than Primal StrikeFollow

Looks like there are several new item being added in 2.4 for leatherworkers. Rogue specific are:

Carapace of Sun and Shadow
Gloves of Immortal Dusk

Info found on WowInsider.

So both of these items are going to put the Primal Strike chest and the Fel Leather Gloves out of buisness for raiding items, but my understanding is that you will need to be raiding the Sunwell to get these patterns, and the gloves require regents that are only found in the Sunwell.

I want to know why Blizz is introducing a sick new epic chest pattern that requires LWing to be 10 points lower than capped and it is better than the piece that we chose Leatherworking for.

I do see that they upped the regents for the chest from 6 Primal Shadows to 6 Primal Mights, but thats still not that bad for what you get...I will be making as soon as I can find the pattern on the AH if it is BoE.

Maybe it's because Blizz finally realized how much the Primalstrike set blows.

Sweet googly moogly!

It's about damn time, too. I've been saying for ages that leatherworking needs upgrades to the level 70 BoP specialization sets. It's just too bad that rogues only get two viable, yet unrelated pieces. A completely new set, similar to the Primalstrike set, would have been nails.

I'm still really hoping for a new BS Sword.

Glove pattern will be BoP, BP pattern will be BoE.

It's nice that there's actually a reason to still be a LW beyond armor patches, since the BT/Hyjal patterns uniformly sucked.

True, but it will go nicely with my T2 goggles when I drop skinning and powerlevel engineering =p

Now the question is how much will the chestpiece pattern cost on AH?

Way too much I expect. I currently have a most of the mats, we'll see if I can get the pattern at a decent price

I would expect it to be priced about the same as the other epic crafting patterns, which on my server are a bit over 1000g. For what you are getting and the fact that the sources say the pattern is trainable at 365/375 I'd say its a lot cheaper than grinding out the rep and points to get to 375 for the primal strike chest. I will be planning on snatching up the first one on my server's AH I see and putting it on. I should be 70 by then, about an hour away from 69 right now.

Expect them to be 2000g+. The engineering goggles will be around 4000g IMO.

Good thing I get them for free. I just hope my guild downs Illidan before then so I don't have to compete with the two main rogues in my guild.

Both carapace and gloves are far better than t6 in terms of DPS.

So "Omg it owns fel leather and primalstrike" look very funny.

As Blizz intended before they making best-in-slot items for crafters.

For instance:
a) JC neck
b) Carapace
c) Engi helm is exception but so damn close to Vision

Maybe it's time to realize that Primalstrike as a set is better than what you can loot in Karazhan. It's old news now, and it is time to replace it, but for people not raiding 25mans it was a pretty good start.

On the side note, the new chest shows on the spreadsheet as a 50dps upgrade for me. Now that would be something...

It was pre-2.3.2, but with MA Wristwraps on badges, CotConniver, MA Wristwraps and any belt you choose pull ahead by a fair bit.

The "any belt" means ZA, Grull, or BM heroic belt (and I have not seen any of them drop even though I visit these places quite often). Nothing in Karazhan,

The badge wrists are very nice indeed, but they are pretty recent addition. Pre-ZA there really was nothing available.

The Conniver chest is *exactly* as good as Primalstrike chest (not counting the set bonus). I have both, and I check the DPS calculation very often to make sure, and there is simply no gain.

All in all, it was a pretty solid set, and it was only outdated by the ZA loot and new badge loot. Maybe nothing exciting, but clearly it does not 'blow'.
