Hello Shaman Forums. Just want to start out by mentioning I did go through the FAQs and whatnot looking for a way to gear up my Shaman, but I could not find a list that fit what I was looking for. What I mean is basically every Enh list I found includes a lot of PvP items. I understand this is because itemization for Enh Shaman is simply put pathetic right now, but I for one really can't stand PvP enough to put forth the hours of work it would take to farm the marks/honor for those items.

So with that in mind, I put together my own list of PvE items to help gear up my freshly level 70 Shaman for running Heroics and Kara. I wanted to post it here and see if anyone with more experience with an Enhancement Shaman could find anywhere I could improve, or say that this list is an ok place to start, given the lack of Enh gear available. Again: NO PvP. This is pre-heroic. I didn't go through quest rewards, but if there are any that would be good to look into, feel free to point them out. Chances are I have not done those quests yet with my Shaman.

I don't know if you're looking for gear solely from quests and non-heroics, but here's what I found that is upgrades.

Traitor's Noose is from an easy heroic and is better than the one you chose.

For your other weapon, you really should PVP. I know it's 50.4k honor for 2 S1 2.6 spd axes, but the 20 extra DPS will be very nice.

Other than that it looks like a good list. Just socket every red/yellow gem with str/crit gems and every blue socketg with str/stam gems and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the quick response :) Yea, I was mainly looking for pre-Heroic gear cause I don't feel I have sufficient gear to preform well in a Heroic just yet. I've got a good number of greens on me, and the rest pretty much pre-70 instance blues.

I looked at the PvP weapons, over and over again, lol. They are very nice, and I might consider farming for them, but I honestly can't see myself getting that much honor in any reasonable amount of time. I hate the atmosphere around PvP with the "hate" macros as I call them, the infighting, name calling: all of that, is just bull!@#$, and I can't stand it.

I understand the PVP thing.

I need to grind out 72k honor for my ele shaman. It turns out the Vind's Mail Belt is the 2nd best ele belt in the game, and I can get it before I even step foot in a heroic.

The bad thing about not PVPing for weapons as enhance is that the first place a shaman can get acceptable 91 DPS weapons is from the last boss in Kara, and you would need 2 of them. For the most part you would have priority on them since most guilds don't bring a DPS warrior to Kara, but you would still need to kill Prince enough to get 2 of them to drop. You could use Fool's Bane as an offhand, but I believe it's only 86 DPS and the stats aren't ideal for an enhance shaman.

I also just realized that I said 2 weapons would be 50k honor. I was wrong, it would only be 36k. Yes, this is still a lot, but it's really not that hard to farm 36k honor.

Once 2.4 hits, if you have any BG tokens saved up you'll be able to turn in 1 of each for 300 honor and that will make the grind that much easier.

If you hate BGs that much, make a 2v2 team with a buddy and reform the team every week to get a fresh 1500 rating. You'll be able to grind the S2 weapons in 6-7 weeks this way. It's a lot more time than the 6-7 days you could farm 36k honor in, but it means you avoid most of the idiots in BGs and you get better weapons out of it.

As far as starting heroics, you should be fine if you can get to 900 AP and 20% to crit, assuming you are specced properly.

I recommend finding a well-geared prot pally that likes running heroics and have yourself surgically attached to his hip. Of course, you should already know about prot pallies, so I don't know why I bothered to say that.

lol yea, considering my main is one :) I'd have linked my Armory, but I recently had to respec Resto for BM to get my Kara key. Was the only way I could get into a group, and I didn't mind the cost. Just haven't bothered to spec back yet as I've been playing other alts.

That's good to know about the marks for honor though. I honestly didn't know that, and I have some saved away in my bank. Do you know of a calculator to determine how long it would take to farm honor for a certain item(s), kind of like the Armory's Arena points calculator? Would be nice to see just how much verbal abuse I would need to put myself through in order to get something decent :)

EDIT: specced back. May not update right away, but my stats are 918 AP, 22.85% crit, 6819 health unbuffed.

What would be a good benchmark for Heroics?

You should be able to easily grind 750 honor per hour, maybe 1k or more.

With those stats you should be fine to do heroics, especially if you have a priest healer. The only thing that's a little low is you HP, but PW:F will solve that.

You really should be able to get heroic groups even with a war/druid tank as long as the other 2 DPS have some CC. Totems REALLY help in getting into heroic groups as DPS.

So yea, went into a few BGs ... and I got raped, hard, lol. I kinda forgot, maybe, about Resil >.> Having no PvP gear and waltzing into BGs at 70 is a death sentence. Everyone running around in their Arena gear, then me with instance blues/quest greens. Just stayed out and tried to heal (with my half assed heal kit) the next time, and did fine: till some Rogue would get smart and come kill me ...

This would be a longer grind than anticipated :S

Yeah your best bet is going to be just grinding EotS since those are the marks you need for the weapons anyway.

Then just pick a node your team controls and defend it.

The other option is if your team has the flag area controlled you can be a dedicated flag runner.

Druids make better flag runners, but shamans do fine.

I was going to ask this sooner, but for some reason I haven't been able to load up Alla for the last couple days: how do you generally use your Totems in a PvP setting?

Mostly I have just been dropping Earthbind and Grounding Totems as needed, with some Fire Totems here and there for some added damage. Is there anything I should be doing other than that? Unless you get into a really organized group (with Alliance, HA!) then it seems like most Totems are basically worthless as I'll be the only one that gets any benefit, except the ones that affect enemies of course. Am I right in thinking this, or way off base?

Always have poison cleansing down to protect against rogues and hunters. Rank one magma will unstealth rogues or druids trying to gank you. Tremor if you see a Lock or priest coming.

I don't know why I didn't think of Poison Cleansing Totem, lol. There's enough Rogues out there, should've clicked by now. But yea, I forgot to mention Tremor Totem. I use that too, but admittedly not as often as I should.

I sometimes use Magma Totem too, plopping it near a flag in AB, but haven't downranked at all. I find that all the mana I spent on dropping the Totem is back before I need to think about refreshing it. Would be better when I have to reapply often though. Thanks for the pointers :)

When in the thick of battle, I find it hard to always remember to drop totems. If I'm defending a node, I always have them up. The advice Tuskerdu gave is spot on. The only thing not listed there is the fire nova totem. I can't tell you how many times it has saved my a** when fighting other melee classes. With as quickly as I get burned down or burn my opponent down, I don't always have time to drop SoE or GoA and we usually end up running out of the totem's radius. However, I almost always try to drop a fire nova totem and an earthbind totem.

Please forgive my ignorange, but I spent most of yesterday reading through the patch notes as well as looking around. I may have simply missed it, but where did this information come from. Sorry to take the thread for a moment.
