A few Rogue questions..Follow

#1 Mar 01 2008 at 5:23 AM Rating: Decent
So I've got my 70 Rogue doing pretty well at the moment. Almost full epic (still greens on chest, legs, back and wrist) and I've gotten into a GREAT guild who have helped me so much.

I'm pretty good at PVP, and I've only ever been beat by a Shaman (damn totems) but one of the things that've bothered me about my Rogue is proffessions.

I've not bothered with them at all. Only thing I picked up was First Aid because Rogues need it badly. I've not really looked into main proffessions much. I heard Alchemy and Herbalism is a great combination for +stat pots. But then I heard Enchanting is great for making plenty of money and getting awesome enchants on my weapons (which are quite costly, mongoose, etc)

Apparently Skinning and Leatherworking is good too! Just so many to choose from!

If you guys could help me out, I'd appreciate it. Just some general ups and downs of the combinations I've posted would help.

Also, I'm currently running 30/31/0 atm for full DPS. I've seen some nice Sub builds, but I like seeing 3k crits when I attack stuff 8D

Thanks for any help I get!

30/31/0 isn't a good build for anything.

Shadowstep is better in PVP and 20/41/0 swords is way better in PVE.

As for professions, it's really just a matter of what you want your profs to do. If you want them to be useful herb/alch and skinning/la will both allow you to make items you can use. If you want your profs to make you money then mining/enchanting ir probably the way to go.

Look through some of the higher end items that you can make with LW and decide if you really need those items. A lot of them are BOE and you can have another LW make them for you, you will just need to get the mats.

A good combination would probably be herbalism and enchanting. You can go and farm your own herbs for a guild alchemist to make potions for you and you can make some decent money with disenchanting and be able to enchant all of your own gear.

30/31/0 is ****, thats not full DPS at all. Go 20/41/0 Combat Swords and your DPS will skyrocket.

As for professions I went LW/Skinning to 375 each then dropped Skinning for Enchanting which was probably pretty stupid. Likely gonna drop LW after I don't need Primalstrike set anymore and grab either Herbalism or Mining to go with my enchanting.

Alrighty, thanks.

Ironicly enough, it was a thread just a few pages back that I got the build I was using.

I respecced and I'll give it a try out later. I'm using a Blade of Savagery and Swiftseal Bludgeon though. Would I be better to go back to Blinkstrike?

I ended up taking Herb/Alch btw. Both at 75 atm. I'll try get them up more tonight.

I would like to tack on my question here.

I have a chance to acquire a second Blinkstrike, for a very good deal. I am Combat/Swords spec. Is this a good idea?

No.

Emphasis on the "no" part.

I know little about rogue builds as my rogue is only 15 (and a troll *prepares for stoning* - should of looked here first, probably will reroll to undead), but I know about herb/alc... it is not really a superior profession for much (imo).

You can make your own pots, but from what I have seen you can buy most pots cheaper on the AH than you can the regs to make them and some require so much running around it becomes a matter of what is your time worth. The regs sell well on AH, if you gather and sell (I have found it pays me more to sell collected regs and buy pots once I have leveled.)

I know people with mining/skinning that make tons of gold on the AH (over 400G by 40), but at high levels enchanting (more disenchanting and selling mats) is good for cash. Some people don't care for the AH, some do, comes to personal preference.

I have a leather worker and while the gold is good for lower level toons, at 50-60 it's not so much worth it.

I guess what you should do depends on your goals. I have no 70, but from what I understand gold comes pretty easy when you hit 70, so I would say to go enchanting and a gathering prof to give enchanting buffs and support crafters in guild. Plus the gold from selling disenchanted mats is imo superb compared to what you'll get from alchemy or leatherworking if you need gold.

Alchemy wouldn't be so bad IMO (at least at 70). It'd be nice to make rather than buy flasks at 50g a pop.

If you're leveling then 2 gathering professions are common for the income, with an eye to drop one (or both) at 70 for a crafting one.

Mainhand weapon - Slow as possible (important thing is the damage range - you want it to be high).

Offhand weapon - fast as possible (important thing is speed).

Obviously you can break that slighly - a 1.7 sword with 60 dps is better than a 1.6 sword with 40, but as long as the weapons are around the same level alays pick the fastest for OH and the slowest for MH 9as slow wepaons have bigger damage ranges than comparable weapons). This does not hold true for mutilate, but I do not suggest going mutilate.

Spec Combat swords (PvE), 20/0/41 or 0/20/41 for PvP (the first is the better unless you have bad gear, in which case precision may be better, especially as most Druids are high up the rating scale).

Professions don't really matter that much - Enchanting is cheaper to buy off someone else than to level yourself (unless you know how to disenchant for profit), and the enchanter only ring enchants are a very small boost. If you are concerned about getting money together, one of your professions should be mining or herbalism.
