lvl 70 gear questionFollow

Hey everyone. I hit 70 on my lock about a month or so ago and since then have been in a dilemma. I want to do kara and all that other good stuff but don't want to go in unprepared gear wise. Anyone know any items that would be relatively easy to get that would prepare me for raids? Also, as I'm finding new gear, which is more important to have, better stats [such as more int and stam] or better effects [such as increases crit hit, spell dmg, healing, etc]? Thanks in advance.
