I was trying to find out what my avoidance is now that I have gemed up some of my new kara gear and there is no miss rating in the character sheet tells me how much it ups my other stats by and how much it decreases the chance for my to be hit and crit.

so I just guessed that that number is my miss chance so if I do the math the same as before I come up with a lot higher value then before I was just wondering if I am doing the math right.

OK so I take my miss chance that is 6.24% + 5% base miss chance + 21.91 dodge + 18.14 parry + 61.03 block with holy shied and the labram = 112.32

here is my armory

That's exactly what I came up with too. And you're right, there's no "miss rating", but the "miss chance" under your Defense Rating is the correct value to use when calculating avoidance.

Also: Logging out with Holy Shield active - nice :) Why didn't I ever think of doing that, hehe. Would make using the Armory to see my avoidance easier (since I can never remember the exact effect of Libram of Repentance ...)

i think warcrafter is off a little bit.

in game when i check my crit its %30.something

warcrafter says its 29.something

however it is a very awsome site, hopefully the avoidance mechanics are more accurate then my suposed crit.

it should be the same as armory has it.

Armory Vs Warcrafter

Check my AP and Crit in both, they are not the same. havent had a gear upgrade or enchant done in weeks. they should both be the same. however both armory and ingame shows it higher.

if i have a setting wrong on warcrafter let me know, im still kinda new with it so i may have done something silly.

Thx for the help on my math and letting me know that it is right.

One more question because my def. and avoidance are so high over the 490 and 102.4% levels should I replace some of my def. and avoidance gems with stam. gems?

It wouldn't be a bad idea, no. You can never have "too much" defense/avoidance unless it interferes with your other stats, but you're far enough ahead it would probably be wise to up your stam some.

YES. Stamina up. Anything over 102.4% and 490 def doesn't do you much good. Although, true avoidance - dodge, parry, miss does reduce your damage taken over time. You might want to try replacing some of your block rating gear (the trinket) with stam gear.

Doesn't do you much good, while Holy Shield is up*

Also when being attacked from behind since you can't parry or block.

Being attacked from behind is a rare occassion and not something you should be gearing for. If you are being attacked from behind it should never be more than a single swing anyway.

I never said you should gear for that specific occasion. Leaving an open ended statement can be misleading, thus throwing out possibilities is perfectly acceptable. It is rare, but what I am saying is you shouldn't hit 490/102.4% and call it good just going for complete stam from then on. There's never a time where you have "too much" avoidance except when you're gaining Block Rating and it's just falling off the attack table, or when outgearing an instance. If there was such thing as "too much" then the only thing different from Tier 4 to Tier 6 gear would be a crap load of stamina, not more in avoidance as well.
