Leveling with a warriorFollow

Pretty much says it all.. but I'm wondering on a build. Both just getting started with these toons and I tried soloing as a shadow priest once but crapped out. Hoping to have more fun with a DPS partner. Pretty much just going to be leveling as a duo for grins and giggles, so no group healing in the forseeable future.

Any thoughts on which build to go with? I was leaning holy just for the heal factor since he'll be doing all the heavy work. I'm guessing shadow spec could heal just as well.

Does it matter what spec the warrior is going to go?

Any tips or suggestions or experiences to share? :)

IMO- Go some combo of shadow/disc, you'll be able to heal just fine without being holy and this will increase your damage output/survivability. I leveled shadow, but i was solo most of the time and going disc would work too.
The war can go either arms or fury and hold mobs just fine. i think fury is the optimal output for leveling, but either spec will work.

A couple of my friends actually just leveled a priest/war and are up to 69 now. The priest started shadow but decided to repec around 40 (i think that's when she respec'd) to disc, and the war went arms to 41 and put the rest in fury. They also do some pvp too so being arms and disc help there.

GL, hope that helps a little.

For fast leveling the warrior should stick to a dps build of arms or fury. Priest should also go dps with shadow. Later on if you both want you can respec to tank and healer. Shadow priests can heal just fine all the way to 70 but also add a lot of dps. Warriors can tank without a prot spec all the way to bc too.

You'll both level up faster if you go with dps builds to start.

Perfect. Thanks so much for the reply. I think I'll start up the disc tree. I know everything else points to Spirit Tap first, but I like the idea of trying something different. Plus the aspect of PvP :)

So I may try the first 5 into Blackout.. just for goofs and the BG fun :P And I guess if I start Disc it should be wand spec... since it's damage based.

I'll have to check around for some shadow/disc builds.

Thanks again.

Happy Friday!

Wand spec is incredible at lower lvls. The damage is great and no mana cost and can't be interrupted. This talent diminishes the higher level you get.

Just a few observations:

- You are leveling for fun.
- You've tried spriest before and didn't like it.
- You have a partner to level with.
- You aren't hell bent on doing instances.

My question to you then is why chose a priest? You might be better off going with a hybrid healing class. A shammy would give you totems to increase DPS, a pally would give nice blessings, druid can dps/heal etc. So if you've already tried and disliked spriest maybe you should try another option.

All great input. Thank you so much. So shadow still can heal pretty effectively... good to know :)

As for the "why priest" question... Funny enough. I have one of each of the hybrids (excluding shammy). So it's more for fun and using it as a beefed up bank alt while I generate some rested xp or just from a different point of view/ fun.

And the only reason I didn't like the priest before was because I was soloing her (that sounds really dirty for some reason.. must be a Friday thing) and had a much more difficult time. The duo affords me a bit more experimenting and learning time as I go. So that's why I went priest :)

Thanks for all the great help too.

For whatever its worth, I leveled a warrior to 53 with a priest (then he went back to his main). Mentalfrog has it right.

My priest friend went dps all the way and I used a lot of bandages. We had no problems at all and killed stuff like crazy with me in a dps build also. When I got into trouble, he dropped a heal on me, when he got into trouble, I pulled them off him. It was lots of fun. I used to tease him that he was just a hunter in cloth with a pet to tank for him.

That's funny, I never looked at it that way.

Its funny because his main is a lock. Smiley: lol

It's a known fact (in certain circles) that whenever a Priest and Warrior enter the same group, an additional party member has to be added within 30 seconds or the server will perform an emergency reboot in order to prevent the possible death of a Restoration Druid.

True story.
