resto shaman wannabeFollow

#1 Feb 29 2008 at 9:17 AM Rating: Decent
I have been leveling an alt shaman to 60 as enh. I've been planning to spec to resto somewhere around this level. My other toon is a 70 lock, so I have some game experience, but haven't healed before.

I'm wondering if this is the right time to transition, should I go straight to an all resto build, or perhaps use an ele, resto build while still leveling and starting to heal. For now, healing will be mostly in instances with pugs. Advice appreciated for a safe instance or two to try to heal at this level.

I currently use call of elements for some totem help - any other add-ons that are good for heals/totems?

Clique and Healbot are both very good for healers.

I would go with a traditional 41/20 ele resto build (41/10 for you at this point) except put your first 5 points in resto in the talent that lowers cast time of your healing spells.

Like this you should be fine for healing any instance before level 70.

Stack spell damage and int and you'll be fine.

Once you get to 70 respec to full resto (0/5/56, 8/0/53, or 0/0/61) and start grabbing healer mail and you'll do fine.

Shamans can actually get to +1700 healing (or more) in properly socketed and enchanted pre-Kara gear.

Totem Timers (may be Totem Timerz, not sure) is a great add on. Keeps your shaman buffs and all of your totems with timers and also alerts when they are running out. Also, shows ticks on your Tremor Totem, too. Pretty nifty lil addon if I do say so myself.

Xperl unit frames is imo the best heal buddy, flototem bar gives you 4 bars for each elememant and an easy to read totem timer at the side of each bar.

You should go elemental, you can off/heal pretty effectively in non-heroic instances.

was the build i used when going 60-70, i did quite a bit of off/healing. This will make leveling much easier. While still being able to heal.
