Thanks to everyone who has replied.
@ KTURNER I was really really tired when I posted, thusly, I was going to say level 14.
Evasion is why you survived the one pull and not the other. Really, like others said, until 30 you will struggle, even sometimes with two. Use your sap and other abilities to incapacitate and keep the fight on your level.
Many high dps toons dont really come into their own til 30 or more, like the mage. Some people get frustrated and stop playing that toon, not realizing what was right around the corner.
Be prpared to die alot, or run alot, sprint is great here ;) if you are combat swords, which you should be in my opinion leveling, some guides say to get some points in assassination as you go down the combat tree, I tried both and went with a straight combat down to 50 for suprise attacks. This way you get adrenaline rush, blade furry and SA early, or have some points in assassination and go down the COmbat tree then respec at 30 for blind furry. 28 you get cheap shot which will be your new opener, sequence goes stealth, cheap shot, slice n dice, sinister five times and eviscerate, or ss until almost dead finish with evis. youll really start rolling through the mobs then.
But multiple mobs are a bane to the rogue, and even other high end dpsers til 30 or so, some would say 40, but my rogues took off after BF, every two minutes its like a two fer fight, so I purposely took on two at that time.
Check out this guide which is really great even suggest where to put points as you level:

Also check this out http://shadowpanther.net/leveling.htm for weapons as you level, I try to stay on top of weps at a minimum, remember slow MH and fast OH, no matter how tempting it might seem to put two blues on, resist the urge unless the OH is fast, like 1. something fast. THis will help you kill faster, thus help you with the multiple mobs.
DOnt go daggers, maces, swords, blah blah blah, just stick with swords all the way up, A dagger can be useful at your level, but once you get into sword spec or any weps spec then stick with that. You can always respec end game for whatever you want to do.
Again, early on, just be sneaky, if you can sap and pull another and get the other one, then you can go one on one, I also used my ranged wep to pull, remember you have gouge to help and sprint if in trouble. Just bear with it, cause I did and fell in love with the rogue. Damn thing levels quick too! Will be great for farming and making gold as you get higher too, in outlands, etc.
