Warlock Equipment Question & Help (New Player/Warlock)Follow

#1 Feb 28 2008 at 2:38 PM Rating: Decent
Hi Guys, Im new to WoW. Just started an Undead Warlock lvl 28 now.

I have a gear question.

Which is more important, +INT, or +spell dmg?

For instance.... I have some boots that have

1.)) +1stam,+1int, +2 spell and healing dmg.

-or-

2.)) +3 stam, +3int.

Now, I know the +spelldmg helps me add dmg to my curses and whatnot, but the +INT adds more Crit % to my spells..... so....... which is better to have??

I have several delimmas like this in my gear set-up and im just not sure which ones to use. Of course the ones with more +stam,+INT, and more AR rating are better, but the others add spell dmg.... SO?? Not sure .

Someone please help me out with this and give me an answer so i can throw some stuff away and make sure im using the best gear i have!!

here is my armory thing:

I know the staff sucks ... not sure why that shows up now i am using Odo's Ley Staff http://thottbot.com/i6318

Also.... from some experienced Warlocks... Am i on the right track so far?

Thanks in advance guys!

one more question... when something says....:

[ increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 5 ]

does this mean only healing spells it affects or does this mean that it would help my Affliction spells by adding more damage to them as well?

im looking at either Sanguine Trousers http://thottbot.com/i14379 or Silver thread pants. http://thottbot.com/i4037

which leaves me in the same delimma as above. LoL.

Which is better for my Lock?

chloro,

Welcome to the best Class in the Game...Yes they will continue to Nerf us and Yes we will continue to Dominate! I think that you are gear looks more like a mage then a lock. I would focus heavily on spell damage and Stamina at the low stages of the game. You will not need to focus on Crit untill way into 70 and at that point not even necesarilly INT b/c you have + crit gear. In the leveling stages you will primarily be sending in your void, DOT, DOT, Drain Life and never really worry about Spamming shadow bolts until you are in your 70's. I would also recommend getting Grim Reach ASAP b/c our greatest asset is our distance ( nothing better then unloading all your DOTS before the opponent even knows what hit them :)

Hope this helps! I am almost to Tear 4 and still focus on Spell Damage over Crit.

Looks like i logged out with some AV gear on, Oh Well O.o

Awesome, thank you so much.

I will start looking for some more +Stam items and stray away from the stacked INT i have (lol).

And... your saying the + spell dmg always takes precedence over the +int +stam mods on items i wear (as a lower lvl) ?

Another Question....

Why is it that every warlock i see has Tailoring/Engineering or Tailoring/Enchanting ???

Is there something im mising? I chose Alchemy and Herb as to always have pots... but was wondering why no one else ever has it.. Lock's anyway..

With Tailoring does it allow you to wear certain items others cant or something? What am I missing?

And Another......

I have maxed out my First Aid to 125...

The trainers wont give me any higher (journeyman) or w/e so i can further train it. Do I have to wait until i am a certain lvl to train it higher ?

Most locks take Tailoring to make themselves the BoP Epic set tailoring has to offer. The FSW set is great and will last you until T5. Enchanting just goes with it well, and DISEnchanting can be a decent money maker.

Also, another not on stats, order for stats I follow is:

Spell Hit(Until 202) > Shaodow Dam > Spell Dam > Sta > Crit > Int

Some of those you may not see until later levels, like after 60, but gives you an idea what to look for now.

And yes, when they say + X Spell Damage and Healing, that increases your Spell Dam. Watch out though, some gear will have + 40 Healing and +16 Spell Dam or some such, and is more for Priests that us.

Well... I'm tailoring/skinning. ;-) But the tailoring part is for the Frozen Shadoweave gear you can make for yourself at 70. It's at least as good as T4 gear. Engineering is more for the pvp minded (imo). Enchanting is awesome as it doesn't require a complementary profession (like blacksmithing is almost worthless without mining).

For the first aid trainers, look at the menu bar on the left of this page and click on the list of trainers. ;-)

thanks guys for all the help.

i found out about the first aid book to get it higher and all of that - i was kinda confused on why just any healer wouldnt give it to me.

im gonna start regearing towards stam and spelldmg and less into int. ill always have lifetap afterall i guess right?

i think i will stick with herbs/alch for now and when i get higher into my 50's/60's ill just grind tailoring. im saving up my cloth already and sending it to my mailbox holder character.

Thanks again.
