So I have been practicing survival techniques to stay alive by running VC. (I am at the top of the bracket for that instance so best place as any right?)

I have learned how to seperate pats and take them down quickly. I use instant poison on my main hand and Crippling poison on my offhand. I usually use the Buzzer blades that drop there but every once in a while I bust out my Cruel barb and thief's blade.

My question is this. In a place such as this setting, (I am looking forward to advancing to the next bracket of instances) but I am wondering if this technique can be improved. I usually end up mashing Sinister strike until I get 5 up and use Slice and dice so I can pound them down quicker. However when I get a little overwhelmed I try to take the extras if possible. Gouging 1 and switching back to the other target quickly to take advantage of the situation. If I get 3 guys I pop evasion and gouge one.

I play so many toons I sometimes get stuck between play styles so I was looking for a little help.

Thank you in advance.

Don't wait for 5 CPs to hit SnD. Get SnD up as soon as possible, then work up your CPs for an Eviscerate.

Also, you'll learn quite a bit by just playing the game. Don't hold off on leveling just to "improve your skill." Keep plugging along, and you'll pick up most of the class as you go.

Ok, thanks.

I was just trying to get to where I could do better than before. I use to get raped if I had 1 add because I didn't know how to handle them. I will level prolly tonight and see whats next.

I may be missing it, but what level and spec are you? Usually, if I pull multiple mobs, I'm able to hit evasion, adrenaline rush, and blade flurry and take them down quickly.

If he's running Van Cleef, that puts his level in the 20s. Right? So no access to AR or Flurry.

In my 20s it was sap 1, hit 2, gouge 3 if needed and if possible. Also being very, very cautious with how and when I pulled while soloing. When in groups you'll sap one maybe then really just focus on DPSing.

Bliz really did a good job pacing the instances IMO. They progress in not only numerical difficulty (mob hit points, damage output, etc) but in strategic complexity (more complicated pat patterns, odd-angle pulls, mixed adds, etc). As you move along through the instances you will need to adapt to new circumstances. Grinding the same instance will have diminishing returns to you skill set.

Keep it up and good luck!

Oh silly me. It didn't hit me that he said, "So I have been practicing survival techniques to stay alive by running VC. (I am at the top of the bracket for that instance so best place as any right?) "

I think I just read it as, I've been practicing techniques by running VC. Sorry about that.

But as with what Therion said, it's pretty much know how to pull and pacing yourself. Two mobs close together? Sap one, take the other. etc. Basically you want to keep your attacks up and always keep the mob incapacitated (as much as you can), so gouge, etc.

Yeah for soloing I could solo the 3 man pats. I just seperate them. Sap 1. The other 2 will keep walking a good distance before they realize their buddy is gone... If you havent initiated combat with him.

then Sap the next one drop him as soon as the other guy is clear and then just quickly burn down the last one. I learned this while trying to "twink" at 19. I failed in my attempt to get another cruel barb and dinged 20 so I threw on a full set of defias and have been playing around in VC ever sense. I make a good 2g a run off silver and gear being vendored.

Last night I tried something different. I brought my friend who was a 20 druid. We did quite well. we 2 manned all the bosses but he died at gilnid. Unfortunately we couldn't go any further due to repops. we both made 2g off that run. Normally I just clear up to the first boss and call it a day because I can't solo him yet.
