Mage Twink (19)Follow

#1 Feb 28 2008 at 6:49 AM Rating: Default
Hello,

I was just wondering if you could tell me what talent i should be and what gear i should have for this 19 mage twink. That would be great and much appreciated.

Thanks Tdogs

at 19 a mage is very vulnerable to practically everything. Mages truly begin to shine after level 20(blink + cone of cold) and even better after 30 with iceblock

Yes i know but i wanted a challange so i chose this

research ftw. Look at tools like wowdb and wowhead for gear.

Spec... hmmm. I'd be tempted to go 0/0/10 taking improved frostbolt, frostbite & improved frost nova, but your frostbolts will hit like a little girl. 0/10/0 would be okay going for impact & ignite, but you don't have scorch, which means standing still for 3 seconds casting fireballs... oooh, not good. 5/5/0 going into arcane missiles & impact would probably be best, but you don't have many good instant cast spells at this level and no way to get out of stuns. Rogues will just SS spam you to death, so get your health up to around 1400-1500 (more if you can), but you're gonna be bait. It will only make you marginally harder to kill. Get on a first-name basis with the spirit healer. ;-)

I'm gonna agree with KT going 5/5/0 would be best because your gonna run into mostly twinked out rogues and hunters, and arcane missiles wont be interrupted making it a life saver esp at that level. And impact so if you fire blast or even happen to get a Fireball off you have 10% chance to stun them.

My opinion of Impact (after testing it for almost three levels in my mid 40's) was that this talent is definitely not worth the 5 points...or any for that matter. I think you would get a greater benefit out of a 5/0/5 spec or a 5/5/0 spec with Imp Fireball. Shoot for the quick casting Frostbolt to slow them and then unload with AM...or go for a quicker casting Fireball for those occasions you can use it. Waiting for 25 min. for the Impact to proc once will quickly get old.

Personally I think I would opt for the Imp Fireball route since you receive a Fireball upgrade at lvl 18.

My 2cp.

I know you said you want a challange... but this won't be one. Even with the best gear you can get and the perfect spec a nontwink hunter will still give you a run for your money. And since this bracket is mainly twinks your just going to be a bump in the road to their goal.

If you want a challange in this bracke (see not hunter or rogue) then go for a healer (to heal the hunter and rogue twinks on your side) and do your best. Sorry man but there really is no such thing as a lvl 19 "twink" mage.

Impact becomes more powerful for PvP twice in the game.

1)Level 20 gives you scorch. Impact thus becomes a much more common proc.

2)Level 62 gives you Molten Armor. You dance a dance of joy everytime a rogue hits you with a stun and is stunned himself.

I'll see if I can find some twink 19 mages that have some advice for ya.

Be back tomorrow?

lol, people were telling me the same advice that you got here. Hunters = more survivability + better DPS.

Still, look up Late in the armory. He's from the Drenden server.

His shoulders are exploited, so replace them with the Talbar mantle. Also, if you plan on being horde, use the inferno robe instead.

Good luck!

Edit:Hmmm, looking up the inferno robe, it's a level 40 item. LOL. You'll be able to get a TBC enchant on this one, like +150 health. Definitely need help for the quest though, and you should probably start it at a super low level, just to make sure you don't ding 20 before getting it from discoveries/kills. Of course, this is all if you're planning to be horde...

Those are the fishing boots from the fishing contest. They're pretty much the preferred twink boots at that level for most folks.

So sorry, linked the same one twice.

Found out how too. Had the boots on before they made level requirements for crafting professions. Although I'm not sure whether the enchants on them still work, she is allowed to keep them on until she wishes to change them.

But! The "use" effect can't be activated. : (

Have to agree with most saying 19 mages are nothing but HK magnets. I have one almost totally twinked out and it is fustrating to be killed so fast. You can't do the damage to kill 1500hp druids and such. I am looking hard at leveling to 29, but I have other things going on and not much time for BGs.

LOL a fishing rod for weapon?
I think he forgot to put back the twisted chanter's staff.

Look at my post (about a page back or so)
I asked the same question for my mage. Im just finishing up getting all my gear together and plan to start BG's soon. I'll let you know my opinion on the whole thing , but like all the others say... get ready to die fast and frequently. If you BG with guildies that can communicate well then having a priest always near you is crucial. You can blast them away from range and if they get in melee range the priest can "Psych scream" them away and heal you.
#18REDACTED, Posted: Jul 23 2008 at 8:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) look up my mage in the armory. "xannadu" fire spec'd. I still havent finishing twinking her up. still need a good chest (prob. treebark jacket is the best or the +12 stam robe that drops in SFK)

While I understand the want to help, Necroposting is frowned on around here. This really didn't need to be revived from page 10(assuming 50 posts per page).

Get lots of sta. Key is to surviving the rog "super-twinks" openers. If you get killed in 1-2 shots it doesn't matter how much mana or spell damage you have.

<Edited for stupid typos.>
