Need Some Friendly Hunter Advice =]Follow

#1 Feb 27 2008 at 11:03 PM Rating: Excellent
Heya all, I have just started WOW again (wasnt good at all before, reached like lvl 35 and had to give up due to uni) My mate has conviced me to play again and im loving the game, the only downfall is that he specialises in Rogue's, and i love my rock *** hunter!

Im upto lvl 45 within a few weeks but i just wanna make sure im kinda heading in the right direction. What i really would like is some advice on what i need for my lvl 45 hunter, and things i can try to get for him upto lvl 50 items! Also where to spend talent points etc would be great!

Here is my armoury http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Dentarg&n=Stubee

All advice/help will be really appreciate, especially with what gear would be usefull for me

As long as you follow the Monkey/Falcon stats for gear, and think about what a talent actually does for you before picking it, there's little to go wrong.

What you arent right on so far is that you have a relatively high amount of strength (wich does absolutely nothing whatsoever for a hunter) and you are still in all leather.
You can in fact now wear mail, wich is nice because of the armor that your pet gets from you having higher armor.
Also, beyond lvl 40, there arent any (or hardly any) leather pieces that have intellect and agility.
Mail will more commonly have some agility to help you along and keep you going for longer periods of time.

And you put a lot of points in rather useless talents.
If i were you, i would now be specced like this working towards something like this.

Now i'll ask you why you think i picked some stuff you didnt and left out things you have.
Try to answer it, trusting that what i picked is generally better then what you picked ;P

edit: also, no one else answer that please.
Or at least, dont type it out here ;)

This is a great reply, and i really appreciate it. Yep i wanna try to aim for all mail. Can you suggest any useful peices of mail for my lvl, and post the item names here, just so i can look to try and get them. I think i will reset my talent points and spend them how you suggested, that was a lot of help :D

Thanks again

As Aethien already mentioned acquire mostly mail armor with +agility, +stamina and +intellect. That type of gear typically has names like '... of the monkey' and '... of the falcon'. When you get near 60 '... of the bandit' which also has bonuses to attack power and hit becomes available.

Pick up two-handed weapons instead of two one-handed weapons. You'll find the stats on a two-hander generally beat the combined stats of two one-handers.

Enchantments at low level should be approached with discretion since you'll be replacing the gear in a few levels anyway. Get them if they are cheap for your greens. If you pick up a blue with just the right stats for your hunter, something you'll keep a while, you might want to spend some significant gold on enchanting it.

You need some trinkets. Carrot on a Stick is a quest reward from running Zul'farrak. Go get Tidal Charm for your PvP activities.

If you're going to stick with leatherworking, take the dragonscale specialization. It will allow you to make mail items for your hunter.

Frankly, while leveling you don't really need much input. It is valuable only in as much as you can convert it to a level 70 play style. While leveling you can wear whatever piecemeal collection of junk armor happens to fall into your hands. And you'll still level just fine. Now, if you actually understand that STR is less useful than AGI that will serve you well, but it won't speed your leveling, because leveling in WoW is trivially easy.

This is a great example of someone taking the advice of people who know what they are talking about and actually doing it :D

StuBee is level 56(?) now, his talents are decent, and his gear is on par :)

Good work StuBee.

Put a scope on your bow. Even a cheap +1 or +3 scope will help. Otherwise your gear looks pretty good now.

Some of your gear has +strength, useless to a hunter. However picking up gear with off-stats isn't completely avoidable while leveling.
