Yup, thats right, I said it, so hear this out.

As a raiding hunter, it is obvious that in order to give it your absolute all, you must follow the guidelines and trust the theories of those around you in game and in these forums. The tested and proven theory is that BM is really, REALLY good dps for raiding. It is also obvious that in order to go through progression in 25 mans you must give it your all. This makes the ravager king for really, REALLY top of the line dps for a BM hunter.

We old hunters have gone through many different nerfs, pets doing shadow damage, 1.0 attack speed, 120 resists to all, the super speed av frost wolf with dash = instantly to an enemy on an epic mount. All these have been vaporized by the all mighty blizzard nerf bat. I ask now, why did it stop there? Pets do all kinds of different damage, -10% on the boar to +10% on the ravager. My request is that pets have been normalized so much that blizzard should normalize the damage so hunters aren't forced, obligated, or feel like they are cheating the raid by not giving it their all because spanky the gorilla can't dish out the dps on a raid compared to spiky the ravager.

I feel that if pets all had the same damage the need to go for the golden pets to progress would diminish.

I know that someone in here is going to give me some ludicrous math on how much actual dps you would lose on a fight from the difference of 2 pets comparing the time of battle, gore and claw, with kill command spam and all the likes with the universe and the number 42 put in there someplace, but I'm talking of the progression of barely getting that mob down so that the gear is given and used by the raid so next time making the next kill easier therefore putting it on farm status and bringing the next mob into progression mode. You can give me those numbers, but we have all been at the seemingly legendary endless 1% of that mob and if your pet is still ticking on it while you are oom because you ran out of pots or are on cooldown, you can be thankful that the pet is still giving it his or her all too.

I am kinda sort of guessing that you are asking for all pets to be normalized? It was hard to pinpoint, even after rereading everything.

Which might be a well meant "normalization" but would in reality be a very, very bad idea. Our pets does not need anywhere near a new normalization. We need more pet skills. A little bit of forethought for each new pet skill, would stuff one or two more pets onto the "highest dps pet" pillar.

"One or two more"? What about the rest of the skill-less pets? Well, we've still got uses for them all. PvP pets. Spiders getting some sort of web ability (short, and pay for it with lower speed/dps) or jump-stun. Various poison abilities to some pets. Solo PvE pets? We've already got several good ones there, through Screech and Thunderstomp, and so on. Do something about Turtles and their low low damage, and we've got another viable solo pet.

Basically, pet skills have to be balanced a little bit more, adding more options to each use. More Raid-PvE pets. More Solo-PvE pets. More PvP pets. One more stable slot will still give us a "tame for skills" slot.

And as for raiding today, you don't really need a ravager. Just pick any of the DPS pets. Ravagers ain't all that much higher than cats and so on, and the difference can be made up with pet control.

A buff would fix the issue, like north said. Why nerf when you can buff?

Pet choice isnt as all important as you think it is.....

And if all pets would get their stats normalized, everyone would go with a boar.
for the simple reason that due to the abilities they have they would do top dps.
So wait, we dont want that do we? no we dont.
We'll just remove abilities from pets too, cause that will make it far better right?

I have to completely agree with every single word North said. Don't nerf our highest DPSing PvE-raid pets. Just make all the other pets viable.

either way, I just cant see a pet buff unless it is the pre patch god like scorpid poison maxmising PvE dps. As for pvp, the only thing i can think of that might be OP is a bleed effect to make the rogues QQ in the forums :)
