At max rank (6), which is obtainable at level 70, it will heal for 30 on every successful melee attack performed after Bloodthirst, up to a maximum of 5 hits.

5 x 30 = 150. I'm sorry, but 150 health? At level 70?

Was the healing effect put there to help at lower levels? At level 40 it returns 50 health, which is 2.5% health returned. I'm sure it sounded great on paper somewhere back in the beta, but at level 70 with 10,000 health... 150 health is what my Druid does in one white hit in Kitty Cat form.

bt isnt good for the heal, the heal is just kinda something they tossed in. the real benefit is the damage output youll get in raid gear.

Yeah, on my Druid I heal for 400 or so in my 10k hp kitty gear on crits fairly often, about once ever six seconds or so, which seems to be way more useful than the minimal healing from BT. BT healing does help a tad with soloing.

I wish they would just remove the healing effect all together. It's just extra threat when it actually heals you, and as the OP pointed out, 150 hp is not very much hp.

It makes BT do ~108 more threat (in berserker stance and imp berserker stance...) per application over time. Not that much really, but I like to be neat and tidy with my threat.

I think the healing effect is made more for solo grinding than Raid DPS. Since it heals 150 in total, and you'll be using it a lot. It will slightly reduce the number of times you'll have to sit and eat.

I have noticed that I, on my level 41 Warrior, use Bloodthirst pretty much whenever it's up. Unbridled Wrath coupled with two fast weapons makes for fast rage generation and I often mix in a few Whirlwinds and Heroic Strikes simply because I can. I use Bloodthirst once or twice per kill, because I crit that much. Unless I'm fighting multiple mobs, I can grind without ever having to sit and eat, what, with health regeneration while running to the next mob, etc.

However, at level 70 things kind of change. Well, in Outland things kind of change, I should say. Even with plate armor, one white hit (not crit) from a mob will negate the effect of that Bloodthirst. Unless you can toss out of a Bloodthirst every time a mob hits you, the effect is minimal. A joke compared to the Druid's Improved Leader of the Pack, which, with my health pool and in Cat form, and with a decent crit rating, heals for 370-something every six seconds. Personal record heal is 544 health returned while in Dire Bear form. Bloodthirst's unscalable 150 health sorta fades in comparison.

Imp Leader of the Pack means my Druid never has to stop.

Blood Thirst means my warrior can last about 2 / 3 mobs longer than otherwise, but he still has to stop.

All right, that seems to clear it up then. Smiley: smile

I do have another question, but I don't feel that clogging up the board with another thread is a great idea. Should I focus on getting a slow or fast main hand weapon?

With Rogues I know that the main hand weapon should be as slow as possible, up to a certain degree (2.8?), because Sinister/Hemorrhage spam is instantaneous and doesn't rely on swing speed (at least that was the mantra back when I played my Rogue), but with my Warrior, only Whirlwind, Slam and Bloodthirst are instant and I'm not sure how efficient they are with a DW spec. Since I'm hitting constantly with two weapons, Slam seems a little useless, but Whirlwind definitely rocks, it's just that I don't stance dance as much when I'm soloing quests and prefer to stick to Battle Stance for the reduced damage taken. Since Bloodthirst doesn't depend on weapon damage, but rather attack power, it doesn't matter there, does it?

So, should I go with a slow main hand? Is Whirlwind really the only attack that it would benefit?

with my recent gear updates from bt/mh I have noticed that the usual area I farm I no longer need to rest at all with bloodthirst. It is fairly negligible at lower levels / worse gearing, but it makes a higher impact as you continue your quest for phat lewtz.

As far as the weapon speed --

Heroic Strike, Cleave, Slam (shouldn't be used while dw'ing ever though), WW and Overpower all use your weapon damage.

Also, Deep wounds will tick higher if you crit for more damage total (which is also dependent on your weapon speed as slower weapons are 99% of the time better for damage).

Preferably you want 2 slow weapons for WW as that, like BT should be used every time it is off CD, but it depends on your rage generation. If you have enough hit to constantly have WW, BT and Rampage up with faster weapons usually is a notification that you should switch to slower weapons if possible.

Don't think though that slower weapons are always better. Look at the dps just based on weapon damage and then compare the stats on each before making your final decision.
