Gems for FSWFollow

#1 Feb 27 2008 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent

I am not quite 70 but that might change today or tomorrow. I have already crafted the shoulders and boots. I am not sure what to use for gems. Ive got +8 spell hit gems for the yellow sockets, but Im wondering what to use for the blues? Any ideas? Im Demo right now but planing on going Destro for instances/raids.

Well, fwiw.... if you go affliction for initial raiding, you can use the 'supression' talent to help you not have to have nearly so much +hit as a crutch to get you hit capped faster with less loss of damage, then, as you acquire gear that has +hit on it (e.g. scryer bloodgem), you can switch to a desto build for better nuking.

For the blue gems, if you go that route, you can get the glowing nightseye gems which have +stam & +damage.

Despite having Supression to make up for +hit, it's still a good idea to stack as much +hit as possible as the majority of your damage still comes from Shadow Bolt even as Affliction. Supression does not affect SB as it is a Destro Spell. Therefore, what i am putting in mine are the +Spell Hit/+Sta gems. Vivid Chrysoprase. You should also consider Great Lionseye, +10 Spell Hit, for the yellows instead of +8 if you are not at the +Spell Hit cap of 202.

Until you are at 202 Spell Hit, you will get more DPS out of raising your Hit than anything else, including Damage. All the Spell/Shadow Damage in the world does you no good if your missing bosses.

Also, if you do not have 20% Crit and around 1000 +Spell/Shadow Damage, you will not be at you max DPS potential as Destro. Your better off sticking with a Demo Raiding build or a UA build.

Not to hijack the thread, but why would you be better off as Demo than Affliction with lower damage & crit?

I never said he'd be better of as Demo than Affliction.

I said sticking with Demo or going UA(Affliction) would be better then switching to Destro.

Well thanks for all the extra stuff I didnt ask for. XD

Trust me, I understand the value of Spell hit. I managed to talk all 4 casters into understanding the importance of Spell hit on raid bosses and in general. They all know how much they need for Heroics/Trash, and they know what to get for Bosses.

I will do destro when I have the stats to support it. I am actually going to stick with a Demo/destro build I found. Ill be loosing Felguard for Ruin. Thanks guys.

good luck to you. Just to let you know though, without at least 20% crit, you WILL be gimping yourself with a ruin spec.
