The other day I was in a group dpsing with another druid. All of the sudden he asked me if I was using mangle. I said that "no, because you are. I just use mangle to increase the shred damage, since you are mangling, there's no point to use it." to what he respond "mangle increases damage done by shred?!"
/facepalm
I got that beat. Unfortunately the biggest druidiot I've run into lately is a guildie. : (
Sorry for the wall 'o text rant, but I'm convinced we woulda easily cleared Moroes with decent DPS in that slot, so I'm a little frustrated and nobody in my guild will grok the depth of his druidiocy as well as you all. : )
My second attempt at a Kara run, he called dibs on DPS because "I'm a cat druid." Fine, do your thing, I prefer off-tanking anyway. Then through the course of the run and a subsequent inspection, I discovered:
1) His first tier of Feral points are 1/5 Ferocity and 5/5 in Feral Agression.
2) His DPS (maybe only) set includes Jerkin of the Untamed Spirit, Staff of Beasts, Heavy Clefthoof boots, and a Stylin Jungle Hat. Interesting choices. I shudder at the thought of his AP, crit, and hit numbers.
3) His standard attack in the instance was Mangle, I kept moving the mobs around to get them in front of them, and he still wouldn't shred. Had thorns up until I mentioned that all it did was add aggro he didn't want.
4) In multiple attempts against Moroes we had our 2 priest healers going OoM, deaths of healers and tanks, etc. No innervate, no battle rez, no emergency heal support...nothing. Keep in mind he was on DPS and free to do all that. On the last run I risked quickly popping out of bear during Moroes' temporary dissapearance to do all of the above and we got a lot closer, but still no cigar.
I'm not a huge proponent of damagemeters, but I reported to our GM that I'd actually out-DPS'd our "dps druid" and suggested that he MIGHT not be ready for Kara just yet. : /
